Dan Bang Posted April 17, 2005 at 08:51 AM Report Posted April 17, 2005 at 08:51 AM Hi, I haven't yet been able to find a dictionary that gives you the opportunity to see both the Chinese characters and the pinyin for an English word. All they have in the BLCU bookshop is versions where the Chinese characters are organised accordingly to pinyin without having the pinyin for an English word. Any one who knows where you can find the dictionary requested in bookshops around Beijing? By the way, if you should have some hints to bookshops in Beijing in general that would be appreciated too... Quote
skylee Posted April 17, 2005 at 10:01 AM Report Posted April 17, 2005 at 10:01 AM I have no idea where to find such a dictionary in Beijing. But this on-line tool will give you the characters (traditional and simplified) and the pinyin if you key in the English word in the word dictionary (the third box) -> http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/chindict.php Quote
roddy Posted April 17, 2005 at 12:02 PM Report Posted April 17, 2005 at 12:02 PM This one should do the trick - it's very popular with learners as it uses a lot of pinyin. It is available in Beijing, and will either look like the Amazon version, or this. I'd be surprised if the BLCU bookshop doesn't have it. Roddy Quote
