Prophecy20 Posted March 16, 2014 at 11:00 PM Report Posted March 16, 2014 at 11:00 PM I've just arrived in Xiamen, and there is what appears to be a thick smog in the air. I had thought that Xiamen was a smog free city, but perhaps I was wrong. Is this smog or something else? Ie fog or low clouds... Quote
Lao Che Posted March 17, 2014 at 12:22 AM Report Posted March 17, 2014 at 12:22 AM Unless you are in Sanya, the air pollution is almost always going to be high by western standards. http://aqicn.org/map/china/ And Xiamen: http://aqicn.org/city/xiamen/ Quote

icebear Posted March 17, 2014 at 01:06 AM Report Posted March 17, 2014 at 01:06 AM If it is any consolation - I found it great there late last year, especially compared to Beijing. Depending on where you are coming from, that may not mean much. Quote
New Members huberybob Posted March 17, 2014 at 04:13 AM New Members Report Posted March 17, 2014 at 04:13 AM In my opinion, this will get better in the next few months, this is due to the fact that summer is coming, ant there are fewer fossil fuel in summer, which will be benefit for the smog. You know, in winter, it needs amount of fuel for heating. let's see. Quote

OneEye Posted March 17, 2014 at 01:15 PM Report Posted March 17, 2014 at 01:15 PM It's been worse than usual in Taipei over the last week or so too, so I'm not surprised that Xiamen is smoggy right now. It'll get better. Quote
