Anybody who applied through embassy called to CSC asking for the result???? any contact number to inquire about the result?? Embassy is replying me to wait till the end of july. But i think the final decision for Scholarship is already made by CSC and universities who applied through embassy.please post about the inquiry to be made on CSC .......

Fudan has already published their results for those who applied directly at their school.  I posted the link on an earlier post. We are already on the first week of July...those of you who applied directly to the universities should have your results by now.  It is only the ones who have applied through embassy who should be waiting for the results at this point.  This is because embassy applicants who do not get their first, second, or third choice are forwarded to other universities (one is bound to accept you,  ).

If you applied directly to a university and you do not know your results until now, it may be possible that your application was not successful.

Also, top-ranking universities such as Zhejiang, Fudan, even Tongji... I don't understand why you would apply to these without a pre-admissions notice? Imagine the amount of students all over the world applying to them and a good number have pre-admissions.  They have very limited spots...let's be realistic.

@ Shuoshuo you are absolutely right....but i'm amaze to know that embassy applicants who don't get their all 3 choices are forwarded to other univ..one is bound to accept .how do you know all these internal matters? is it sure that if all 3 choices aren't accepted one is sure to accept? it means those who applied through embassy are sure to get the scholarship in one of the university? please let me know how do you get all these information if it's true i could wait for embassy result confidently...Thank you

@lin you le, The Chinese embassy workers that work in the education department are only an extension of the Ministry of Education. They take orders from the MOE and therefore do not have the information you might be asking. I spent 20 mins yeaterday talking to them at the embassy I applied at after my results were in. In my experiance, they were more than freindly and tried hard for me to get the results early, as I explained to them my situation. They actually even said sorry that they were not able to give me more information and explained that there only job in the process is to help candidates get the information to the MOE's CSC department and out side of that they really do not have the authority to go any further. So you should not give them a hard time. When they say they do not know they really do not know.

@Dipen I have contacted CSC numerous times during the process and they always old me that I need to be paitient and that they will inform the Embassy as soon as they have finished, which they did. Contacting CSC will not give you any more information than you know now. They will mostly likely just ask you to wait as they did to me. I know it is hard to wait, there are a lot of plans to be made when leaving the country. My only suggestion to you is to hope for the best and plan for the worst so that you will not be left between a rock and a hard place. If you have a pre-admission letter and a CSC award letter, I would not be concerned at all.

@ladyforez thank you for congradulating me. This process started for me in early January, so it has been a little of a journey but then agian my whole life has been an adventure and a journey. I moved to China when I was 15 years old by myself!

@Dipen When I formally recieved my award letter from the Chinese embassy on March 28th saying that I was awarded the scholarship, the representitive at the embassy told me that even if I did not get into the Universites that I wanted to, CSC would find a University for me to study at. Luckily for me I got into the university I wanted. However, I did have a pre-addmission letter from that university.

@shuoshuo...I applied 8 universities or three applications and Zhejiang and Tonji University was in my priority so other universities said they didn't get my documents and they published result soon. About Embassy In Nepal the director of embassy decided to give scholarship for medicine and electric engineer so director did not give recommendation to other students and I talked with Chinese madam in Chinese 您自己送您的申请 and she said you can apply directly for physics as embassy has no quotas...I told the universities about that...Now you suggest me what can I do now...And I want to clear that I may be the first people from Nepal who applied directly to the Universities without the letter of recommendation from Embassy and it will help Chinese Universities to increase Nepalese Students in China in the field of Science specially physics.

Dipen - Yup, I am almost 100% that embassy candidates will get the scholarship.  Well, as long as the applications are indeed sent to CSC (so the ones they do not send, well, these will obviously not be successful).  The bilateral scholarship is a special scholarship that supports diplomatic ties between China and the other countries.  So if the embassy gives CSC 10 applications to fill the 10 quota, all these 10 applicants will get the scholarship.  Some of these applicants do not even meet the basic requirement of scholarship but despite that, they will probably get placement. This is just for country diplomacy, that the students get to benefit from.  So yes, I can say I know enough about the bilateral scholarship.  So even if these candidates do not get their choices (and many actually do not because they do not know that you can get a pre-admission notice), they will get placement elsewhere.

justforget - I've actually met many Nepalese students already studying in China, studying in all fields including art. The problem about not applying with a pre-admissions notice and no recommendation nor award letter from your embassy is this: every university has a quota and they will prioritize first on students who have applied with the above mentioned documents.  After that, they may give the remaining quota to foreign students in China who have asked the teachers for scholarships (they have this advantage, that they will have the power of persuasion because they can talk to university staff face to face).  Then, the staff will tell excellent self-supporting students currently studying in the university if there is additional quota - or they will even reserve quota for these students.  So after everyone above have been given the scholarship, what are the chances that a person with no recommending documents, no support from the staff and so on, will get a scholarship?

If you do not receive the CSC scholarship, you can contact the universities and ask them if they will consider giving you the university scholarship.  But schools may only be willing to give you a scholarship if you agree to enrol in a new major that they are trying to promote.

Dipen - If you applied through your embassy, they probably did send your documents to your first choice.  But as you did not apply with a pre-admissions notice, I expect you will be placed in a university that CSC assigns to you.  You have selected top universities in China, and believe me when I say this: everyone who applies through the embassy actually do the same thing.  They choose very popular, top-ranking universities.  But I suppose any university is better than none, isn't it?

@Dipen which program you applied? I know you are also from Nepal and you said you get the recommendation from Embassy  and can you make it clear how did you received the recommendation??? I know for Nepalese students like me who works as Chinese translator and interpreter has many difficulties to go to China with self finance without earning money. No one will think to go to China and learn there even China has World top College. So I wait for two Universities result if these universities select me then I will be glad. If not I will never think to go to China to study and I will try Europe and USA. - chandra man shakya

@shuoshuo  I don't believe every one has recommendation from University and award from Embassy  and after reading the required documents in csc websites I attached all the required documents having 20 pages only. I know it is not simple to get scholarship but also it is not simple to attract Nepalese self finance students and dedicated students to Chinese Universities without providing Scholarship and can you tell me the percentages of Nepalese Scholarship Student in China.

@awaiz_26 your status on CSC is also currently checking?

Anyone knows is current GPA important for decision?

Can you tell me what do you mean in pre-admission letter?

About me, I won in the Chinese competition held by Chinese embassy, so they let me apply for scholarship, but they did not give me anything like recommendation and also still nothing news.

@ shuoshuo i'm agree with your opinion any university is better than none...but i would be very happy if i get any two of these univ. But one thing i doubt if there is no vacancy in 2nd choice, will 3rd choice univ accept me even it is in the 3rd priority( in case my application meets all the requirement) ? This is a bit confusion anyway,if you have any idea please post..

@justforget  yeah i'm from Nepal and i have applied for Master degree in internal medicine.Embassy won't recommend or give me a award letter but i am selected during the selection process in their limited quota and in the name list.I think after that they themself send the required documents to CSC.Hope you understand well.If you applied for master degree in physics it is better you apply directly to university.if your document is strong enough hope you will get.which two university result is left with you?

justforget - CSC is not the only scholarship type available for students.  There are so many scholarships available, and I have met Nepalese students in China at every university I have been (whether I've studied there or met up with my friends in theirs).  Nepal, like many other countries also give their scholarship quota to favoured students (e.g. family/relatives of those on the scholarship board), so how can you even know the quota, and do they even publish the quota? I am sure that there are a handful of students out there who got the scholarship and never had any recommendation, pre-admissions notice nor an award letter.  I'm sure there are these lucky few.  But I personally do not know anyone so I don't know how often this happens.  You can see it yourself on this forum alone that everyone who has been accepted has an award letter, or a recommendation from a teacher or recommendation from a higher institution, or a pre-admissions notice.

Dipen - Same here.  When I asked my embassy for an award letter (which I didn't know about until this year), they told me to apply through them instead of applying with the university that accepted me.  So I never received the award letter.  If your embassy has considered you in their quota, then I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

jonibol - GPA would be important when you are applying for a pre-admissions notice.  The CSC will not really look at your GPA because they will only fund your scholarship so it is the university who looks at your certificates and scores.

@justforget I logged into my Laihua account and it says that my status still "currently checking." I would not put much emphasis on the csc application status.

In addition, when I applied through the embassy I first had to get my school to recommend me to the Chinese consulate, then the consulate gave me an award letter. Then I asked a Peking University proffesor from the department that I wanted to study at and had a chance to meet last summer when I visited the campus to write me a recommendation letter. After that I submitted an application to Peking University. Shortly after Peking University gave me a pre-addmission letter. I then used those three documents along with the other CSC required materials and submitted them to the Consulate. The consulate then sent them to CSC in China. CSC later contacted Peking University and after CSC confirmed that Peking would accept me, CSC informed the Consulate, then the Consulate informed me that I was accepted to Peking with the full ride Scholarship. That was the proccess in a nut shell.

If you are in the quota, you shouldn't worry. There are two types of recommendations, one, recommendation letters from professors and, second, 'recommendation' from embassy, meaning it 'recommends' you to the CSC, in other words, just forwards the documents. So, basically, a person can receive an award letter from the embassy as .pdf file which can be used when you apply to an university for pre-admission letter - to prove that you actually got the scholarship. But in some cases universities don't even ask for it and givr pre-admission letter after you had sent the e-mail to the person at an university responsible for government scholarship students. Though it's possible that the practice depends on a country. And yes, also 'still checking' for me on Laihua.

@shuoshuo I understand you. you desperately want me to have the scholarship. I also sent two recommendation letter of Asst, Prof. of Nepal and I also sent many emails including my details and some online certificate from University of Maryland , Edinburgh University and Duke University as a evidence of recommendation letter and also my previous publish work. I don't want to be bad by saying other get scholarship and I always want to congratulate them.
