@Charliefarrell

So you got an offer to study at BFA through CSC, but it was partial scholarship?

@Lin You Le

Each year they release the results later. This is the list of dates they released the results in the embassy's website since 2009:

2009: 22th July

2010: 22th July

2011: 23th July

2012: 26th July

2013: 31th July

Hopefully this year won't wait till August to release the list. >.>

@Pauan

I have not got an official offer from CSC yet, but the academy have told me this is what CSC will offer me. So I still need to come up with 70000 rmb of my own money, which I don't have.

Just to confirm ; when everyone here says that if you have an award letter there should be no problem getting the scholarship, you guys mean if your embassy recommended you to the csc? I know for a fact that my embassy recommended my application and sent it to Beijing, but I never got any award letter (I got a pre-admission notice without it, from the only university I applied for).

The actual award letter is not important here, is that it? It's just to show to the universities that your embassy has selected you? If your ambassy recommended you and sent your file to Beijing, that's the important part right?

Hey guys, I would just like to ask if I would get admitted in the three universities I wrote on my application for a one-year Chinese language program or in another university. My top three choices are Dalian University of Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Xi'an Jiaotong University. I applied through the embassy and the dispatching authority here, but I just have their recommendation. I also don't have an admission letter beforehand. What do you guys think? Xie xie~

Tianlongprc - I commend you on your method to achieve not only the scholarship but the university you wanted (and the best university at that!).  I really wish the applicants here understand that it is important to be proactive in their application process.  Those in here telling me that we don't need to do anything and you don't need any award/pre-admissions/recommendation documents to obtain the scholarship through direct uni application... I'm just speechless.

Simplet - an award letter is given by embassies/consulates.  They are necessary for those who want to apply directly to the university, and it is a requirement of many universities.  I actually only learnt about this letter this year, when I was in China and my friends and I were inquiring at different universities.  When I contacted my embassy asking for this 'award letter', they told me that this is not the system in my country and that if I was interested in applying for the CSC I would have to apply using the embassy's agency number.

I don't know if I've mentioned this before: universities only accept direct applications from Masters and PhD applicants.  If you applied for a Bachelors degree, chances are you would have to apply through your embassy.

jobm - If your embassy sent your application to CSC, then you will most likely get the scholarship.  But it is possible you will not get the university you wanted, if you didn't apply with a pre-admissions notice.

Yes, they told me that the embassy forwarded my application to China. Would sending an e-mail now to the 3 universities I picked help me know that I got accepted to one of these universities or not? I remember crisgee's post where the dispatching authority in our country informed her during August 2009. http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/13983-csc-scholarship-archives/?p=179885 I am still on my undergrad and our first semester will start on August and if I am going to enroll or not for this term will depend on the results of this scholarship.

Have you contacted the Chinese embassy?

There's nothing wrong with trying to contact the schools you picked, perhaps their international students office. Or better yet, call them.  Some schools are willing to divulge such information because it is very important anyway, to know as soon as possible. You have nothing to lose.

Good luck!

Thank you shuo shuo! 非你莫属~

No reply so far from them. But when I e-mailed them last May I think, the admission letters will arrive on July, they said. The dispatching authority also told me that once they got the results, they would immediately tell us.

@shuoshuo :

I'm aware that it's the ambassy that gives you the award letter. What I'm asking is that if I already have a pre-admission letter from my university of choice, then I don't need any award letter, right? I know that my embassy recommended my application and sent it to Beijing, this should be enough to get the scholarship?

Hi Everyone,

I am back with no +ve reply from any of the universities, i applied for the first time this year with the acceptance of the professors but, now as far as i came to know that the main reason of my failure is my CGPA that is 2.59 out of 4, and i know almost all the successful applicants that their CGPA is very good, now i am thinking of not to apply next year for the scholarship, so please give me suggestions should i quit?

waiting for the response from all the friends.

Jobm - There may be some delays in response now, because many of the teachers are on their summer holidays. :lol:  Try to call instead.  My friend called his first choice university and was able to get his answer then and there. I feel the schools have slow email response time, they make us wait forever!

The dispatching authorities are the ones who should inform students who applied through them.  But this can actually take weeks, and if this is something that will not affect your semester application (I think you mentioned something along that line earlier), then the wait should not be an issue.  I only have a personal experience example, of last year when my embassy received the results (early July), and our MOE only published the results a few days before August.  I truly don't know what happens during the gap weeks when they're letting the students wait for the results. :wall  In my country, the distance between the embassy and the MOE is about 8 minutes by car. Go figure. :mrgreen:  :mrgreen:  :mrgreen:

adn223 - Which universities did you apply to and do you have a previous post here that explains your application process? I apologize if I've asked you this question before in the past.

@shuoshuo thanks for the reply, i applied for the Hunan university, southwest jiaotong university and Jiangsu university, and no you did not ask me questions before.

the official from Hunan university asked my csc form serial number after checking they replied sorry you did not get scholarship on 3rd june 2014. and southwest jiaotong university is not replying me even after my more than one emails.

Posted

Did you send 3 separate application documents to each of these universities, and created 3 separate applications to them online?

Did Southwest Jiaotong University acknowledge the receipt of your application documents and confirmed that they have been sent to CSC?

Also, you mentioned that you have the acceptance of the professors...do you mean recommendation letters from the professors in these universities that you applied to?

I should add, that if you do not get the scholarship this year, you should definitely try again next year.  You have to obtain the pre-admissions notice from the university you want, that would really help your application.  There are so many schools in China, and I'm sure that many will accept you despite your scores.

@shuoshuo yes i sent three different application documents creating 3 different online applications because Chinese embassy in our country Pakistan does not accept the application,

no i did not receive any information from Southwest jiaotong university even i did not get any nomination email from any of the three universities,

three professors from the respective Chinese universities accepted my proposal and recommended me for the admission.

i have been noticing that the competition is so saturated and my score is not able to get a place among those, but maybe i will try my luck again.

@shuoshuo do I also need to call the CSC?

Yeah, that is what I have read in this forum, that the dispatching authority is the one should inform the students.

The MOE said they may receive the documents on the second week of August  :(

jobm - Some people here have mentioned calling the CSC...but I don't know if they will discuss embassy applications with you. You can go as far as contacting compatriots who are already enrolled in these universities to help you find out if the schools are expecting you. That said, I think the best thing to do is to be patient.  If you are certain that your documents have reached CSC through your embassy, I am confident you will be awarded the scholarship.

adn223 - That doesn't sound to good to be honest.  I wouldn't keep blaming it on your score, unless the school themselves have told you that your score doesn't meet their requirements.  If possible, try to call the one who hasn't been replying to their emails.  See where you stand with them.  When I was applying, I sent soooo many emails to the school I wanted, asking them to help me out with the procedures and such.  They never replied.  One day I decided I will call them instead, and it was only during the call that they told me they received all my emails and that they will issue me the admissions on the same day! :wall  Today is Saturday however, so I don't know if calling will do you good today.  But try on Monday.

@Shuoshuo

I'm applying for next year's scholarship, but have already got most of my paperwork together. I've heard a lot about pre-admissions letters.

What is the actual process for those? I mean I plan on applying separately to universities and the embassy (for a masters). If the application process for the embassy starts in December, is it normal to contact schools before December and apply to get a pre-admissions notice?

Any info would be helpful. I can't believe I'm already worrying about this and I still have like 5-6 months until I can apply  :shock:. I have a weird problem about being needing to be prepared for everything.
