chanda Posted July 8, 2014 at 08:22 AM Report Posted July 8, 2014 at 08:22 AM @Dipen Congrats, you will no doubt have a nice time in Wuhan. The city has many universities and only Beijing and Shanghai can boast of having more universities than Wuhan. As a result, there are many foreign students in the city and you won't feel out of place. Most universities are situated in one district of the city called Wuchang and it's common for organised sports events over the weekends between rival universities. These days, I hear the subway is fully operational, that makes the movements within the city pretty much easier and fun. HUST is a very big university, I remember I used to get lost everytime I visited my countrymates/friends who were studying there. You will make friends right there, for your own information, international students don't share same hostels with Chinese students. So the moment you arrive, you will be interacting and surrounded by a huge population of international students. 1
Nadia Posted July 8, 2014 at 08:47 AM Report Posted July 8, 2014 at 08:47 AM Any one applied for University of Chinese Academy of Science here?
shuoshuo Posted July 8, 2014 at 08:47 AM Report Posted July 8, 2014 at 08:47 AM Dipen, the first time I went to China it was my university who gave my contact information to students from my country who were placed in the same university. This can actually be quite important, because they are people who might be willing to help you more than others. Ask your university if they could perhaps send your contact information to students from your country who are willing to contact you. There could be a Facebook group of people from your uni.
chanda Posted July 8, 2014 at 08:54 AM Report Posted July 8, 2014 at 08:54 AM In addition to what shuoshuo has said, you may have students from your country dotted around the Universities in Wuhan like Wuhan University, Wuhan University of Technology, Huazhong Normal University, Tongji Medical college, Dida daxue etc. There are numerous Facebook groups (even though it's banned in China), you can join one of them and ask some questions, people will be willing to help 1
zeeshan Posted July 8, 2014 at 09:39 AM Report Posted July 8, 2014 at 09:39 AM Hi My name is Zeeshan Asim and i am from Pakistan ....... i applied to Chinese Government Scholarship directly to the University in 19 April 2014 i receive the email From Nanjing University of Aeronautic and Aerospace which is that Dear student, Congratulations! We are glad to inform you that you have been recruited by Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics(NUAA) as a new student Subsidized by Chinese Government Scholarship Postgraduate Program(CSC). Our materials including a piece of JW202 form, Admission Notice and Scholarship Certificate will be sent to you by the end of June. Please reply to us by email as the confirmation of studying in NUAA as soon as possible. Welcome to NUAA! i confirm that on 20 April 2014 University published the list in 21 May 2014 but my name is not in the list please any body facing same issue just comment on it
chanda Posted July 8, 2014 at 01:33 PM Report Posted July 8, 2014 at 01:33 PM Zeeshan Congrats!! I know someone who going to your university. He got the CSC scholarship and was wondering whether it's full or partial scholarship because the email he received just said "subsidized". When he received the JW202 and admission notice, the "full scholarship" box was not ticked.
Tianlongprc Posted July 8, 2014 at 02:41 PM Report Posted July 8, 2014 at 02:41 PM @dipen congrats and good luck with your studies.
shuoshuo Posted July 8, 2014 at 06:01 PM Report Posted July 8, 2014 at 06:01 PM Zeeshan - Was it a mistake that they didn't include your name in the list?
chanda Posted July 8, 2014 at 06:43 PM Report Posted July 8, 2014 at 06:43 PM During my time I was given the JW201. I have seen that Zeeshan has been given the JW202. A quick search indicates that the former is full scholarship while the latter is for partial scholarship or self-funded. What does partial scholarship under CSC cover? Tuition only? Does it mean you pay for accommodation?
yali liz Posted July 8, 2014 at 06:49 PM Report Posted July 8, 2014 at 06:49 PM Have any Americans begun to receive their JW201/202 forms? The former Chinese Embassy worker known as Jiangyi Liu told me that it should come in early July (which I guess is now) but I haven't heard or received anything.
Dipen Posted July 9, 2014 at 06:41 AM Report Posted July 9, 2014 at 06:41 AM @ shuosho and @ chanda for the helpful information i have found one student of my country who is doing same subject as i applied for...its through facebook...i am trying to contact let me see what will happen.i am confuse from this forum about JW201 and JW202.i have not got email written about it...i found that bilateral program has full and partial scholarship.i think full or partial will only be known after i get admission package from Chinese embassy.still have to wait for all these things to be clear till i the end of july.isn't it? @Tianlongprc thanks for the wishes....wish you best of luck for you studies too.
shuoshuo Posted July 9, 2014 at 06:47 AM Report Posted July 9, 2014 at 06:47 AM Chanda - partial scholarship could mean 2 things: either only your tuition fees is covered or everything is covered except for your monthly allowance. I know students on both predicaments so this perhaps vary. This year I have also discovered a new definition for 'partial scholarship', and that is CSC pays only a certain number of years and then the rest is on you or you have to apply again.
Tianlongprc Posted July 9, 2014 at 07:00 AM Report Posted July 9, 2014 at 07:00 AM @yali liz I received my jw form and acceptance letter today from the consulate in Chicago
chanda Posted July 9, 2014 at 07:23 AM Report Posted July 9, 2014 at 07:23 AM @ Dipen I have seen the admission package Nanjing Aeronautics and Astronautics University sent to someone I know who applied direct to the University, no single box is ticked. Neither the full nor partial scholarship (and it's sub-categories) boxes have been ticked. I bet the best is to clarify with the university to avoid confusions which may arise

However I am considering turning it down as the entire program would have to be completed entirely in Mandarin with the additional prerequisite year for learning the language (5 years total).
