Song Hu Posted July 21, 2014 at 10:14 PM Report Posted July 21, 2014 at 10:14 PM @ Shuoshuo Thank you very much for the reply and sharing your experiences with us! @ pavidevi Unfortunately, as I told you in a previous post you have to contact the Chinese Embassy in your country or search in their website for all the procedures of applying for a visa. Every country has different rules for issuing a visa! I went today to apply for my visa and they only wanted a visa application form completely filled in English, as well as the original copies and a photocopy of my passport, admission notice and visa application form for study in China (JW201). They didn't even want the Foreigner Physical Examination Form or the blood test reports. Moreover, I didn't need to go there with an appointment and I didn't need to have an interview for the visa either!! So, again!! The best you have to do is to consult the Chinese Embassy of your own country!!! @ wpskinner Of course, you have to get a visa BEFORE entering China!! Otherwise, they won't even let you get in the plane!! Therefore, the admission notice and the JW201 you received are for that exact reason!! What you have to do from now on: 1) If you don't have a passport (ordinary one) or it expires soon, first you have to get one from your county's police authorities. 2) Make photocopies of the passport (ony the first two pages where your personal details, your photo and your signature are), the Admission Notice of your university and the JW201. 3) Consult your country's Chinese Embassy about any additional documents they might need for issuing you a visa, for instance the Foreigner Physical Examination Form etc. 4) After you have all the documents ready (both original and a set of photocopies) go to your country's Chinese Embassy and apply for a visa! BE CAREFUL TO APPLY FOR THE RIGHT TYPE OF VISA!!! 5) After a few days (approximately 4-5), you will get your visa and you are ready for your flight to China!! Hope it helped you!! Anything else, please feel free to ask us!

New Members ppoudyal Posted July 22, 2014 at 01:51 PM New Members Report Posted July 22, 2014 at 01:51 PM As a step towards the scholarship application, today I emailed the Chinese embassy here in Nepal so that they can book an appointment for me so that I can go and visit and find out all the info regarding scholarship application from the horse's mouth. I don't even know if they do anything such as booking an appoint to collect information but I just gave it a try by writing to them, lets see what happens, if I don't get any calls or email I'm planning to call them and find out. @justforget Thank you for adding me as a friend but I can't view your profile because I'm new to this forum and seems like I need to post in a certain number before I can view your profile. You can provide me your number and I will call you or you can call me 9845665530, I live in Kathmandu and if we both are heading North towards China, may be we can hangout like bros before we do. Also you can email me pratikpoudyal360@gmail.com
geometry Posted July 22, 2014 at 02:17 PM Report Posted July 22, 2014 at 02:17 PM ^Usually they say you have to apply in your home country, but I know people who've done it in HK. What I am pretty sure about though is that you cannot make the switch within the country. In the past, I was on a Z visa and quit my job and continued studying using that and it worked out fine since I informed the school of my circumstances. Perhaps this is an option for you depending on when your Z visa expires. Also, I received the package from the embassy yesterday! Only I wasn't given admission to the school I received the pre acceptance letter from, or any of my 3 choice schools. I'll make the best of it though!
SalmonSlap Posted July 22, 2014 at 02:39 PM Report Posted July 22, 2014 at 02:39 PM @David Ma - My friend is in the same situation as you - 6 month scholarship to Taiwan and also a recipient of the CSC Scholarship. You're allowed to start in March but you will have to contact the agency through which you applied. My friend contacted the agency, the CSC fellas and the university initially but the final authority seemed to be the embassy (the latter two instructed that he contact the agency. This was done a while ago, however (in June, before he was given official notice about admission, which happened today), and therefore I hope it isn't too late for you. But yeah, totally possible! The only problem he has is that there may be a bit of an overlap between the end of studies in Taiwan and the date for registration in Beijing - if this is also the case for you I think it's possible to seek permission from your university in China to delay registration. 1
shuoshuo Posted July 22, 2014 at 04:49 PM Report Posted July 22, 2014 at 04:49 PM Nibo - What was your method of applying for the scholarship after you received the pre-admissions notice?
David Ma Posted July 22, 2014 at 05:20 PM Report Posted July 22, 2014 at 05:20 PM @SalmonSlap Oh, sweet! I think I might die and go to heaven if I'm able to accept both.
Song Hu Posted July 22, 2014 at 10:43 PM Report Posted July 22, 2014 at 10:43 PM @ Shai & @ simplet I will also be a student at BLCU!! Congratulations and I wish you all the best in your studies!! I would be glad to meet you there!!! Simplet, I will also study Translation at BLCU but for a Bachelor's Degree and after my first year of preparatory lessons. Is your Bachelor's in Translation or have you worked as a translator in China? If yes, in which languages are you specialized? Sorry for the questions, but I am very curious, since you are the first person I know with the same major as me and living in China as well ! Therefore, I would be really grateful if you could share some valuable information with me!
New Members Sunny27 Posted July 23, 2014 at 02:54 AM New Members Report Posted July 23, 2014 at 02:54 AM Hello guys! I also got the CSC scholarship through the embassy, although I haven't got the admission letter yet, but the embassy contacted me and informed about the university... So, this is the problem. I didn't put this university as my preference:((Thought I would be studying in Beijing but they decided to send me to Hefei, Anhui province (Hefei university of technology). I applied for the bachelor's degree without pre - admission letter... And it was a big mistake. Has anyone visited Hefei or heard something about this university?? I'm really upset about this situation because I don't want to go there...
Shai Posted July 23, 2014 at 09:53 AM Report Posted July 23, 2014 at 09:53 AM Does anyone know what I should do with the admission notice after I applied for visa? Should I now talk to the university in order to settle registration, accommodation and such?
shuoshuo Posted July 23, 2014 at 10:48 AM Report Posted July 23, 2014 at 10:48 AM Shai - You will need the admissions notice when you are applying for your residence permit. adn223 - Don't think so. Universities choose the best applicants, or they choose the students with professor recommendations (professors from their university, not the student's previous university).
Shai Posted July 23, 2014 at 04:36 PM Report Posted July 23, 2014 at 04:36 PM Shuoshuo What about accomodation? Obviously I will arrive before the registration window to get settled
Pauan Posted July 23, 2014 at 07:11 PM Report Posted July 23, 2014 at 07:11 PM Does anyone think it might be a problem to get visa and other stuff done if i have hair in not conventional colours, white/blueish for example? Or will I suffer any form of prejudice, taking in consideration that i might be joining an art college.
