chanda Posted July 23, 2014 at 10:08 PM Report Posted July 23, 2014 at 10:08 PM @jonibolThe best is to phone them, most Chinese Universities are notorious for not responding to e-mails 1
rashid1587 Posted July 23, 2014 at 10:22 PM Report Posted July 23, 2014 at 10:22 PM @Jonibol, due to vacations, most of the universities are not responding now a days, but your question is very simple, your said that is very much OK, you can move with it. Even you can go 7-10 days before your registration. Usually universities start receiving students from 5 to 10 days before their registration. You just need to be careful if you are planning to join your university after the registration dates, in this case you have to inform your university and get approval before going late. 2
David Ma Posted July 23, 2014 at 10:26 PM Report Posted July 23, 2014 at 10:26 PM Never thought I'd finally be posting this... 1) What is your native country? U.S. 2) Where did you apply? The Chinese Embassy in Washington D.C. (from Ohio) 3) When did you apply? Late March 2014 (pretty sure the embassy received my app after the 30th but it still went through!) 4) When was the deadline? April 30th? (it was suggested to submit the app before March 30th) 5) Have you applied for the scholarship before? No, this was my first time. 6) What program did you apply for? Chinese language student for 2 years. 7) What schools did you put for your preferences? 1. Xiamen University 2. Shandong University 3. Chinese Embassy in DC 10) Where did you get your physical done? Family physician (my father) It should also be mentioned that I did NOT have the x-ray or ECC done. I just got a syphilis, tuberculosis, and HIV test done. All three together cost less than $20. 11) Did you get your documents notarized? Nope. My bank (Chase) said it wasn't possible. Finally, for those getting results: 12) Were you accepted for the scholarship, if you were not then why? Yes! 13) Did you receive any university admission letters (prior to receiving a scholarship)? Yes, received an admission letter from XMU in May/June 14) How were you notified? U.S. Embassy in D.C asked for my address by email and then mailed the form within a few days. 15) When were you accepted/rejected? July 18th, 2014 16) What school and program were you accepted to? Xiamen University for one year language program It seems like being on the waitlist is a pretty good indicator of being awarded later on in the summer. So excited! Will definitely be diving into other parts of the forums shortly. I'm sure getting to my university is going to be an adventure all unto itself. Many thanks to Haoyu for starting this thread and providing so much info. Really wish you could've been awarded this time through. Good luck to the rest of you!

roddy Posted July 24, 2014 at 12:00 PM Report Posted July 24, 2014 at 12:00 PM Soda, and everyone else with questions about a specific university - find your university topic here then ask your question. Many current and former students are not CSC recipients, and are not reading this topic.

Song Hu Posted July 24, 2014 at 01:41 PM Report Posted July 24, 2014 at 01:41 PM @ geepopski You will not get any information about if you are accepted or not in a university through the application at laihua. What you need to do is contact the university in China, if you have applied directly to it, or the dispatching authority in which you sent your application documents, e.g. the Chinese Embassy in your country. Only them can tell you the result!
