lucaslins Posted May 24, 2014 at 12:34 PM Report Posted May 24, 2014 at 12:34 PM Hey guys, I am finishing my second Chinese course at the University and I'm trying to solve some questions to prepare myself for the exam next month. The goal of the exercise is to rearrange the given words and form sentences. I did manage to solve the following questions (it's in Pinyin): duō - kǎoshì - hǎo - le - shàngcì - tā - chéngjī - zhècì - bǐ my answer: tā chéngjī kǎoshì zhècì bǐ shàngcì hǎo duō le le - gè - bèi - xiǎotōu - nà - zhōngyú - zhuā - jǐngchá - zhù - dāngchǎng my answer: nà gè xiǎotōu zhōngyú bèi jǐngchá dāngchǎng zhuā zhù le gēn - lǚxíng - kěnéng - shǔjià - péngyǒu - dào - wǒ - nánfāng - zhōngguó - yīkuàir my answer: wǒ shǔjià kěnéng gēn péngyǒu yīkuàir dào zhōngguó nánfāng lǚxíng zhōngguó - yībān - Jiékè - de - bǐ - de - zhōngguó - hái - duì - liǎojiě - rén - duō my answer: Jiékè duì zhōngguó de liǎojiě bǐ yībān de zhōngguó rén hái duō BUT, I am having some difficult in solving these ones: chéng - xiǎoshuō - tā - yǐjīng - de - fānyì - Déwén - jùshuō - hěnduō - bèi - le zà i - búdào - jiā - běn - shū - zhè - túshūguǎn - jǐ - zhè - zhǎo lìshǐ - xǐhuan - xiǎoshuō - wǒ - gǔdài - de - kàn - fǎnyìng dāngchǎng - zhù - bèi - xiǎotōu - le - jǐngchá - zhuā zuò - bǎ - zhōngyú - le - tā - zuòyè - zuìhòu - dōu - wán does anyone have any ideas? Although I know all the words and meanings, those rearranging words exercises are killing me. Thanks! Lucas. Quote
陳德聰 Posted May 24, 2014 at 01:30 PM Report Posted May 24, 2014 at 01:30 PM Quick question, can we help you using characters? It takes a ridiculously long time for me to input pinyin... Quote
lucaslins Posted May 24, 2014 at 01:33 PM Author Report Posted May 24, 2014 at 01:33 PM Yes, it's no problem, I can read most characters used in this question. Thanks! Quote
lykaiowang Posted May 25, 2014 at 06:58 AM Report Posted May 25, 2014 at 06:58 AM There is a small mistake in question number four where it says "zhù", it should be "jiù"(就) instead. But otherwise, here you go. Let me know if its what you wanted!

Demonic_Duck Posted May 25, 2014 at 02:42 PM Report Posted May 25, 2014 at 02:42 PM I don't think number 4 is a typo, I think it's supposed to be 住. 小偷当场被警察抓住了。 Re: number 5, I didn't know 最后 and 终于 could be used together like that - is this one of those places in Chinese where redundancy is used for emphasis? Quote
lykaiowang Posted May 25, 2014 at 02:52 PM Report Posted May 25, 2014 at 02:52 PM Thanks for correcting me on #4, I never thought of arranging it that way. Good catch! As of #5, indeed it is used for emphasis. Although it is literally translated into "at last finally", it can be thought of as "after all this work.... the thief eventually...", hope this makes sense for you Quote
lucaslins Posted May 29, 2014 at 12:24 PM Author Report Posted May 29, 2014 at 12:24 PM Hey guys, I talked to my teacher and she confirmed that the sentence number 4 is 小偷当场被警察抓住了. Anyway, I also have some questions more that maybe someone could help me solve or confirm if my answers are right? Here they are: 1. kǎolǜ - shuō - de – wèntí - wǒ - zhèɡe - ɡuò - le - nǐ - yǐjīnɡ 。 2. nǐ - duō - tā - bǐ - ɡāo - běnlái - jiù - de 。 >> MY ANSWER (I'm not sure though): běnlái jiù nǐ bǐ tā ɡāo de duō.3. bǐ - nǐ - tā - bǐ - hǎoxiànɡ - yìdiánr - nǐ - pànɡ - bù - shòu , 。 >> MY ANSWER (I'm almost 100% sure): Tā bùbǐ nǐ pàng yīdiǎnr, hǎoxiàng nǐ bǐ shòu.4. ɡāoɡāo - de - yǎnjìnɡ - nà - ɡe - de - de - liǎn - dàda - ɡèr - nǚháir - de - xiǎoxiao - zuǐ - yuányuan ,,,。 5. ɡuójì - wǒ - cānjiā - shì - lái - bǐsài - de - biǎoɡē - cānjiā - yóuyǒnɡ 。 6. yìqǐ - xǐhuān - wèntí - hěn - tā - zhēnglùn - gēn - tóngxuémen >> MY ANSWER (I'm almost 100% sure): tā hěn xǐhuān gēn tóngxuémen yìqǐ zhēnglùn wèntí7. zhǎo - gōngzuò - yíxiàr - tā - dānwèi - bìyè - liánxì - yào - yǐhòu - de Thanks again for the help! lykaiowang Posted May 29, 2014 at 06:16 PM Report Posted May 29, 2014 at 06:16 PM 1 你已经考虑过我说的这个问题了 2 你 [本来] 就比他高多了 3 Three is tricky there is two 比, two 你 but only ony 他。 So it could be any of these. 一点儿's pinyin is wrong. It is dian3 and not dian2. These seem to be the characters underlying the pinyin: 比 你 他(她/它) 比 好像 一点儿 你 胖 不 瘦 Possible combinations can be as follows, but it doesn't exactly add up. 你不比他胖 你好像瘦一点 你不比他瘦 好像你胖一点 Notice that I only used one 比 in the above sentences, instead of given. The only scenario where I would imagine you need to 2 比 would be in a question form. Something like: 你好像瘦一点。你比不比他胖? Regardless. This question can have multiple answers! Moving on.... 4.那个女孩的脸圆圆的, 眼睛小小的, 个儿高高的。 It should be yan3jing0 (眼睛, eyes) instead of yan3jing4(眼镜, glasses). 5. 我 表哥是来参加国际游泳比赛的。 6. Good job You got it! 7. 他毕业以后找工作得要联系单位 一下儿。 I am really curious, because I teach mandarin myself. Does this method really help you learn? I personally find it really redundant. And due to the fact that you can write the same sentence in so many different combinations. Pinyin -> sentence simply wont help for the most of the time. IMHO. I'd like to know how you feel about this exercise. 1 Quote
