Looks like it was meant to be "ai" (love) to me. I'll let others judge if that is correct.

 

I'll also leave comments as to the quality of the "penmanship" (tatoo-manship?) to my betters.

It does look like a badly rendered version of ai meaning love 爱.

 

I don't consider myself anyone's "better" I think its obvious even to beginners that this is not done well.

Of course it doesn't look much like 爱, and for a good reason: it's actually 愛 (granted, 愛 is only the traditional version of the same character but of course they are not supposed to look exactly the same).

 

The upper part still looks a little weird though, but it's more like a matter of style than of quality to me. I wouldn't dare to tell that there is no way to write it that way in any kind of calligraphy, given what I've seen in the past (i.e. calligraphy has its own rules and sometimes they really look weird, but they are never "wrong").

I suspect that the tattoo might have suffered somewhat during the Photoshopping process. Perhaps some brave soul could volunteer to look through other photographs of the model and see if it looks better in another midriff-baring shot.
