Need First Line of Cantonese Translated... Bo Ying Tong?

Hello, 

 

I have to ask if anyone could translate the first line of this paper. 

 

It is my daughters name in Chinese. I do believe it is traditional chinese as her grandfather Ping wrote it, but there is such a large language barrier that he cannot explain what her name is or means in english. 

 

I want to get the first two character of her name tattooed on my wrist, and since their are no Chinese tattoo artists in my small city I have come upon this forum for help. I hope that if I may get the phrase or word that goes with the characters I can find a better image of them online to take to the tattoo shop. 

 

I also would like to know how to write it on my wrist so that it does not look improper when others who can read Chinese look at it. 

 

I am assuming that the two characters can be written beside each other horizontally if it is a phrase, but could be written vertically if it is just one word than the other. 

 

Ping (grandpa) said Bo means precious, and Ying means full of wealth and happiness?, and Tong is the last name, which I think just means soup. 

 

Any help is much appreciated.

It is actually a mix of traditional and simplified.

 

Fully simplified would be: 汤宝盈

Fully traditional would be: 湯寶盈

I'm going to give you the most important advice you're likely to find on these forums.  Do not get Chinese tattooed by someone who cannot write Chinese.  They will mess up the proportions, leave off strokes, get things backwards etc.  That may mean you need to wait some time before doing it, but it sure beats getting it done poorly.

Re the second character meaning precious. On top of the two versions (fully simplified and fully traditional), there is a possibility that the name is actually a mix of traditional and simplified characters (湯宝盈 as shown in the picture). Some people choose to do this, probably due to stroke count (for luck) etc. Usually they justify such choices by saying that they have chosen a variant of the character for the name.

The best way is to clarify this with the grandpa, I guess.

And heed imron's advice regarding tattoo.
