Please help me to translate this tattoo

The calligraphy is quite good but the meaning is not exactly what was intented.

愛望愛 means love, hope, love, or translated as a sentence: love looks towards love. But there is definitely nothing about abstinence or faith here.

What Kamille says. The calligraphy is not entirely standard but looks nice enough. All in all, if you don't mind that the meaning is not actually what you had in mind, this is not a bad tattoo at all.

I was thinking 'didn't you notice that the first and the last character are the same' and then I saw that they aren't, so no wonder you didn't notice. The first one is correct (traditional Chinese), the last one is a mix between the traditional 愛 and the simplified 爱 (both meaning 'love'). So not entirely correct, but still immediately readable for anyone who knows Chinese. Perhaps it's even a non-standard variant of the character.

I agree with Lu's #4. The tattoo looks ok. Though I thought you were a person with a lot of love but lacking in faith, as it is usual to translate "faith, hope, love" to 信望愛 but there is no faith in your tattoo, just love, hope, love. Love, and hoping for more. :D It is nice enough though.

PS - I am not sure I understand #6.

Skylee: looks to me that those two 爱 are slightly different, one with 攵 at the bottom, the other with 反 (probably meant as 友, like the simplified character has).

And perhaps the OP is someone with plenty of faith, which is why he didn't need more of that tattooed on his neck :-)

I think the last "love" is ok. The left slant has stuck with the lower part of the heart (心), that's all.

On further inspection, I think you might be right.
