Pest control Chengdu

My girlfriend is scared to death of rats, but she has one in her apartment in Chengdu.. She is Chinese and could google but when I say she is scared to death.. I have neverseen anyone so scared of anything before, it worries me and I can't solve the problem for her as I am currently back home.

I cannot speak Chinese, and she is too scared to see the pictures if she googles..... Does anyone know of, or could anyone help me find an exterminator in Chengdu? She isn't sleeping well and has to barricade her door at night.

Get a cat. If Chengdu's anything like Shanghai, there will be loads of semi-strays in her neighbourhood.

Cats are not very good for pest control. They do eat rats and mice, but they also do kill a lot of useful animals. Furthermore, there are a lot of cats that don't go after rats. Rats do fight back and a lot of cats do know this and leave them alone.

If you want an animal for rodent control get an owl or snakes...

The best you can do is : Make the area inhospitable for mice and rats.

Does your girlfriend have Chinese-speaking friends (in Chengdu or elsewhere) who can help? Alternatively, she could perhaps ask neighbours/colleagues/friends in Chengdu who might know good exterminators they have experience with. I understand that as her boyfriend, you want to help her, but this is a lot easier for someone who knows Chinese and/or is nearby.
