augemini1980 Posted July 3, 2014 at 10:31 AM Report Share Posted July 3, 2014 at 10:31 AM I picked these both up at a thrift store, and I think they are both just lovely. I would love to know what they say. The last one on the tea pot, Im not sure if it is turned the correct direction.
Lu Posted July 3, 2014 at 12:17 PM Report Share Posted July 3, 2014 at 12:17 PM The characters on the fan are 年年有余, roughly 'may you have abundance every year'. I can't make much of the red characters in the seal below the 余. 余 (yú, abundance) sounds the same as 鱼 (yú, fish), so the fish in the last picture are also an expression of the wish for abundance. The seal on the teapot is upside down in the photo, looks like 中国宜兴, 'Yixing, China'. Yixing, according to a quick google search, is a city famous for its pottery, so the seal basically says 'Made in Yixing, China'. (Whether it really was made in Yixing is not sure, of course.)

Lu Posted July 3, 2014 at 12:48 PM Report Share Posted July 3, 2014 at 12:48 PM I think it's 孙 something-something. Perhaps the name of the maker, in which case the surname would be Sun, but I'm not sure what the given name is. This is in seal script, which I'm not that good at.
