May-may Chan Posted July 3, 2014 at 09:01 PM Report Posted July 3, 2014 at 09:01 PM My father has a US passport. He can get a visa to HK for 90 days. After the 90 days, how many time can he renew his visa so he can stay in HK? Quote
Guest scooby Posted July 4, 2014 at 09:54 AM Report Posted July 4, 2014 at 09:54 AM If you are from the US, you don't need a visa to stay in HK for longer than 90 days. If I remember correctly it is possible to re-enter HK another time without visa. One of the most popular ways to do this - people visit Macau and then return back to HK and stay there for another period of 90 days. P.S. Anyone can feel free to correct me, because I haven't done this myself. Quote
roddy Posted July 4, 2014 at 10:01 AM Report Posted July 4, 2014 at 10:01 AM Assuming it works the same as for UK citizens, you don't need to apply for a visa, but you do get an entry stamp giving you however many days (180 for UK citizens). You can renew that easily by leaving and coming back again - as scooby says, a trip to Macau is all that's needed. I have heard stories of people being asked what they're doing in Hong Kong if they're doing this in the long term, as they might assume you're working illegally. Maybe keep evidence of, eg, withdrawing funds from a US bank account. Not sure what the chances of being asked for that is though. Welcome to the site! Quote
