New Members Liv Posted July 19, 2014 at 01:50 AM New Members Report Share Posted July 19, 2014 at 01:50 AM I just met a girl whose given name is Ruxi, and I was wondering what this name might mean. Unfortunately, I don't have the characters with which she writes her name in Chinese, so I understand if a translation isn't possible. Thank you for your help! skylee Posted July 19, 2014 at 08:16 AM Report Share Posted July 19, 2014 at 08:16 AM These are the possible Chinese characters for the syllable "ru" (according to one online dictionary) - http://humanum.arts.cuhk.edu.hk/Lexis/Lindict/syllabary/ru.htm And these are for the syllable "xi" - http://humanum.arts.cuhk.edu.hk/Lexis/Lindict/syllabary/xi.htm While not all of them are suitable for names (and for females), you can see that there are still quite a lot of possible combinations. It is therefore quite unlikely for people to translate the name Ruxi without knowing the characters.

Lu Posted July 20, 2014 at 09:19 PM Report Share Posted July 20, 2014 at 09:19 PM My guess would be that Ru is 如, 'as, resembling', but that might be wrong. Perhaps you can ask her yourself what her name means and how she writes it?
