I'm trying to say something along the lines of "Even though it was really difficult, I still really liked it." As I understand it, something like "即使．．．，仍旧．．．" might work. In this situation, perhaps with a 了, can it refer to something that actually happened (even though), rather than just a hypothetical situation that hasn't occurred (even if)? For an elegant variation on "虽然 . . .，但是 . . ." you could try the construction "尽管 A, 还是/仍然 B". For example "尽管（jin3guan3）数学很难， 我还是要学的”. They discuss this construction at greater length on the Chinese Grammar Wiki site which has a link on the left-hand side of the Forum's home-page--just search by 尽管.
