lan_hua Posted May 6, 2005 at 03:07 PM Report Posted May 6, 2005 at 03:07 PM Hi! I need your help one more time. Could anybody help me with this "chemical" sentence: "薄荷脑与葡萄糖醛酸形成结合物在尿和胆汁中排出,各种异构体以不同量与葡萄糖醛酸结合"? My translation is: menthol and glucuronic acid derivative is exreted in the urine and bile, each (menthol) isomer joins with glucuronic acid in different quantity. Is my translation correct? And I'd like also to know whether "形成" (to become) is here necessary. "结合物" means "derivative", maybe "形成结合物" also does so? Thanks for your help! (and sorry for imperfect English) Quote
roddy Posted May 7, 2005 at 05:44 PM Report Posted May 7, 2005 at 05:44 PM 薄荷脑与葡萄糖醛酸形成结合物 means, I think, that the 结合物 is made up of 薄荷脑 and 葡萄糖醛酸, and that only one thing (the 结合物) is being excreted. However, when I read menthol and glucuronic acid derivative is exreted in the urine and bile I thought that two things, menthol AND glucuronic acid derivative were being excreted. Perhaps A derivative formed from mentol and glucuronic acid derivative is excreted would be clearer. I've got a feeling that there might be a better word than derivative, but I can't think what. Plus, I'm no expert in the field. Roddy Quote
