skylee Posted May 7, 2005 at 01:59 AM Report Posted May 7, 2005 at 01:59 AM 港人深圳10秒自助通關 全國首創 下月推出 I have just read this report and I find myself worrying if I would not be allowed not to use the new system. I wouldn't want to let the mainland authorities collect my personal data like this (I suppose they don't have them yet otherwise they won't need to collect them). If this is compulsory then I would probably not use those ports. Do I worry too much? Quote
roddy Posted May 7, 2005 at 02:04 PM Report Posted May 7, 2005 at 02:04 PM Are they collecting anything beyond your fingerprint? Every time you cross a border you hand over a passport, or an ID card, which identifies you uniquely, and I don't see how much difference a fingerprint will make. If there's something to be worried about it's probably the increasing automation and integration of different databases, especially if there aren't adequate safeguards on who can access what.
