BA Degree/Chinese University/ get work in China?

I'm loving China, loving learning the language and am really considering doing a BA in Chinese language here. However, I came across a post in this forum where someone said that China won't accept a Bachelor Degree from a Chinese University to get a Z visa and resident permit. Well that just sounds ludicrous to me? Is it true?
