Lanchong Posted September 5, 2014 at 07:54 AM Report Posted September 5, 2014 at 07:54 AM Chinese learners are often looking for Chinese voices to shadow, and sometimes complain about the lack of deep male voices. No fear, for now there's the newsreader on rfi's 時事與專題: http://www.chinese.rfi.fr/20140903-%E6%97%B6%E4%BA%8B%E4%B8%8E%E4%B8%93%E9%A2%98-03092014-2215-gmt A few hours of shadowing later, you'll have the smooth baritone late-night-radio-host Chinese to melt the hearts of Mandarin-speaking ladies everywhere, not to mention a solid grasp of recent geopolitical developments. 4 Quote
Bad Cao Cao Posted September 5, 2014 at 09:53 AM Report Posted September 5, 2014 at 09:53 AM haha, not for me, give me a real man's man voice : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dftx28aZ46c Quote
Lu Posted September 5, 2014 at 10:11 AM Report Posted September 5, 2014 at 10:11 AM the smooth baritone late-night-radio-host Chinese to melt the hearts of Mandarin-speaking ladies everywhereOMG it's true. I had to turn it off after a few words, I still have work to do today. That's almost the radio equivalent of those naked ladies reading the news. Bad Cao Cao, your namesake and his frenemy there sound manly & badass alright, but their voices are not melting anything I'm afraid. 1 Quote
Kenny同志 Posted September 5, 2014 at 10:16 AM Report Posted September 5, 2014 at 10:16 AM 問:你想要深的,性感的聲音嗎? 答:我不想要。 Quote
Guest realmayo Posted September 5, 2014 at 10:58 AM Report Posted September 5, 2014 at 10:58 AM Have to agree with Bad Cao Cao, I would love to be able to speak like the actor who plays Cao Cao! I believe he's from Xinjiang -- does anyone know if that's evident in his accent in any way? But yeah, first time I watched that show I thought he sounded super cool. Quote

Shelley Posted September 5, 2014 at 04:34 PM Report Posted September 5, 2014 at 04:34 PM Interesting, it was really deep and mellow. Demonic_Duck the link doesn't work for me, odd cos never had YouTube refused before on the grounds that it is not available in my country. Quote
SiMaKe Posted September 5, 2014 at 07:16 PM Report Posted September 5, 2014 at 07:16 PM @DD Absolutely hilarious! Quote
imron Posted September 6, 2014 at 12:22 AM Report Posted September 6, 2014 at 12:22 AM I'm going to agree with Bad Cao Cao also. 姜文 is still my reference. If only he had a radio show or something.. Quote

Well, that sucks. When I set my VPN to a UK server, I get the same message. Basically, because it's a British show, you're not allowed to watch it in Britain. Makes perfect sense. Anyway, the whole episode's available here, but you have to register: http://www.channel4.com/programmes/black-books/on-demand/27470-005 Quote
Shelley Posted September 6, 2014 at 09:41 AM Report Posted September 6, 2014 at 09:41 AM Thank you, I will give it a look when I am not so busy. Quote
Auberon Posted October 4, 2014 at 11:41 PM Report Posted October 4, 2014 at 11:41 PM haha, not for me, give me a real man's man voice : Never mind Cao Cao; the actor who plays Zhang Fei in this series resembles a Chinese version of Brain Blessed! Quote
Pokarface Posted October 22, 2014 at 05:04 PM Report Posted October 22, 2014 at 05:04 PM Yes, I want a deep and badass Chinese voice like Batman! Lol I have a really "troll" voice. Sometimes it sounds like a baby. The 1st tone is difficult to pronounce with a deep voice I like how this Laowai speaks Chinese http://vocaroo.com/i/s0ZOFEG18iCG I think I should ace my "Zh" sounds and then I can concentrate on my voice. Maybe I can try to focus on both at the same time 1 Quote
