I study chinese in NCPR 4. I stumbled on a sentence whose exact meaning I cannot grasp: 女孩总是像姐姐一样管着男孩，男孩也非常愿意让她管。NCPR 4, p-5.

The girl is always taking charge/ care of the boy as if she were his older sister, and the boy very willingly lets her do so.
