"Deskies" share your desk/study area

Shelley

Recommended Posts

Following on from the very popular "shelfies" topic a little while ago and inspired by a similar idea I saw somewhere on the net, I thought it would be fun to share our desks/work area.

So take a picture of the space you use to work, when you get the books out and really get down to some serious studying :)

To get the ball rolling here is my desk complete with one of my cats. They are always ready to help. :)

She is called Flo and the second smallest of my 6 cats.

She weighs 5.5 kilos. Her big brother weighs in at 10 kilos and her eldest brother weighs in at 7.5 kilos and no they are not fat they are just big.

The biggest cat is well over 30cm at his shoulder.

Meimei is the smallest at 5 kilos.

I included her because I usually have to share my desk with at least one of them.

So now I have shared this with you does it encourage you to share a deskie? :)

This should be an interesting thread...  Looking forward to see what type of desk area people study at...

(note I was going to most mine, but can't figure out how to upload any photos and am too lazy to do research... if anyone wants to drop a quick line on how, mine will be uploaded)

Well that's interesting the first 2 contributions are almost complete opposites, ouyangjun with the bare essentials and French more like mine with lots of things around.

I envy ouyangjun, I would like that simplicity but find I always end up with a desk full.

Interesting too that ouyangjun also studies in coffee shops, I would find that too distracting, i am a sucker for people watching :)

6 cats? Another crazy cat lady! Just kidding, I love cats, I miss mine so much!

My cat used to love to sit on my keyboard and any book/newspaper I happened to be looking at at the time.

I usually like to go to the library to study, I tend to get distracted by YouTube much less when there...

Off to YouTube now I thought of it~

They probably wouldn't, but I can wait till they're closing and can probably try if my phone still has enough power. It's pretty much just my laptop on a table.

Though at the moment I'm studying WordPress coding to make themes/plugins/whatever as I'm quite short on cash.

It would still qualify as a desk/study area, and although I was thinking about Chinese study, any study by forum members would be ok.

I just thought it would be fun, interesting and perhaps enlightening to see where people studied.

Well, I'll bite.

It's usually a bit messier, sometimes a lot messier. But I work best when it's like this, so this is how I try to keep it. 3 notebooks: one for writing out my to-do list/daily schedule, one for jotting down random ideas in, and one specifically for work-related stuff. Books: only what I'm using on a regular basis right now, though I have to admit, these days 古文觀止 is there more due to a sense of guilt than to the fact that I'm actually using it. Headphones: Grado SR-80's, because they sound amazing and I listen to a lot of audio throughout the day, both music and for language study. A desk lamp because there's not a light in my office. Fortunately there's great natural light, and the room is wired for a light fixture, there's just not one installed. I don't know why. And behind the laptop: an external hard drive and a box of various writing utensils, erasers, white-out, and my scanner pen.

I might have to go bump the shelfies thread now.
