LearnYu, machine intelligence applied to teaching Chinese

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I'm working on the next big thing in learning Chinese: a computer language tutor, which uses machine intelligence in order to know which words and grammar you need to practice. Then it generates new personalized exercises for as long as you need. You can try it out at www.learnyu.com by logging in with your Facebook account. Or if you don't have Facebook, create an account at www.learnyu.com/users/sign_up and log in at www.learnyu.com/users/sign_in (I know, this is provisional).

I did the programming for this site and paid Chinese teachers to create lessons; beta testers say that they're addicted to learning Chinese now. But I'd like this free web course to cover a lot more materials and cannot fund further lessons, audio editing etc. all by myself, nor do I want the course to be less than professional quality, so I'm currently running an Indiegogo campaign to collect more funds. If you think this approach is valuable, can you chip in or spread the word? https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/learnyu-automagic-chinese-course/x/481434#home

Hope we can create something truly awesome!

Does this platform support a traditional character option at the moment? I'd consider contributing for early access if it does.

Also, is there any way one can skip through what one already knows?

I like the way you've made pinyin numbers automatically change to tone diacritics.

Hey Auberon, we are working at the traditional character option and it will be available in October. Skipping ahead is not possible at the moment but it is also on our to-do list.
