What are the characters?

Hi,

perhaps someone more technominded than me can help: a chinese friend sent me a message containing a sentence of chinese but the characters didn't appear as they should, and i've never had this problem before (i use University computers that are kitted out with good Chinese software), instead what should have been chinese appeared as:

?amp;#25105;们在新的公寓能有$

825;么好的人缘不能不归

151;于开朗大方的克莱哥

290;?

Can anyone tell me how i can translate this into characters? And why doesn't the computer display it? i use both a University account and a hotmail one, both of which are on Chnese language setting.

cheers

Here's the text as repaired by http://www.mandarintools.com/email.html

我们在新的公寓能有这么好的人缘不能不归功于开朗大方的克莱哥。

In HTML, "xx;" is used to represent a raw byte with the value of "xxx".

The problem seems to be that your friend's email program is breaking up some of the multi-byte Chinese character in the middle. Maybe it's inserting a line-break where it shouldn't be. That's why you're seeing the raw numerical code for these characters.
