Translation or Interpretation of 非战不屈?

How would you translate or interpret the idiom 非战不屈. When put into Google Translate it comes out with "Non-war unyielding"but I was wondering how else It can be interpreted. One interpretation that I have found is "Never give up without a fight". Is that correct or how else can it be interpreted? Thanks

Originally, it means "Never surrender to your enemy without a fight". 

非(Without) 

战(fight) 

不(not)

屈(Surrender/give up)

So the translation - "Never give up without a fight"  is correct.
