roddy Posted October 14, 2014 at 12:12 PM Report Posted October 14, 2014 at 12:12 PM Not sure what that was, haven't noticed any problems lately. Will keep an eye on it. Quote
roddy Posted October 14, 2014 at 12:43 PM Report Posted October 14, 2014 at 12:43 PM And immediately after posting that, guess what I see... Have banned a few more dodgy looking IPs. Quote

edelweis Posted June 17, 2015 at 12:25 PM Author Report Posted June 17, 2015 at 12:25 PM I had sone trouble accessing the forum yesterday evening too. Most of the time it was "too busy" and only once or twice "out of memory". Quote

Shelley Posted October 4, 2016 at 09:16 PM Report Posted October 4, 2016 at 09:16 PM Ok glad you are on it, life without chinese forums doesn't bear thinking about I have had a couple of problems on the forum today. Quote
Gharial Posted October 4, 2016 at 09:43 PM Report Posted October 4, 2016 at 09:43 PM Recently (the past few weeks) I've been getting an increasing number of the following messages when trying to visit Chinese Forums, and most of today the site was unavailable at every attempt: "SQL error. An error occured with the SQL server. This is not a problem with the IPS Community Suite but rather with your SQL server. Please contact your host and copy the message shown above." Not sure what that all means but thought I should post it for the possible attention of the admin here. Not as bad as eslcafe though, where simply trying to alter one's stored email address for PM notifications will for reasons known only to Dave Sperling get your profile inactivated, resulting in what feels like or is effectively a quasi-ban. (The mods there even delete threads bringing up such problems, bunch of useless p****s!). Quote
Luxi Posted October 5, 2016 at 07:38 PM Report Posted October 5, 2016 at 07:38 PM I've been getting the same SQL Error message too. Are the Forums being attacked by hijacked smart light bulbs (plenty of that going on these weeks), or is it something silly like an expired certificate? There's so much good information in Chinese Forums, I would like to think that it is all safely backed up, but maybe it isn't and it's wise to save the useful links and posts as one goes along. Quote
abcdefg Posted October 6, 2016 at 02:11 PM Report Posted October 6, 2016 at 02:11 PM I've been getting the same SQL Error message too. Me too. While in China and now in the US. As recently as last night. (This morning no problem as yet.) What I see is exactly what Gharial posted upthread. "SQL error. An error occured with the SQL server. This is not a problem with the IPS Community Suite but rather with your SQL server. Please contact your host and copy the message shown above." Quote
abcdefg Posted October 8, 2016 at 02:15 PM Report Posted October 8, 2016 at 02:15 PM Have not had any further trouble with this error over the past 36 or 48 hours. Access to Chinese Forums seems normal and easy again. (Am in the US, not using a proxy.) Quote
889 Posted October 8, 2016 at 03:12 PM Report Posted October 8, 2016 at 03:12 PM I had the problem about 24 hours ago, though the site loaded when I pressed re-load. Quote
