oceancalligraphy Posted October 15, 2014 at 06:23 AM Report Posted October 15, 2014 at 06:23 AM When I first heard of the opening of Taiwan Academies (http://www.taiwanacademy.tw/), they seemed to be associated with particular Taipei Economic and Culture Offices (TECO). I thought it was really odd because TECO are usually for paperwork and don't have classrooms or audio-visual rooms, so I wasn't sure how the "academy" part was going to work. It looks like the first physical location of a Taiwan Academy has opened in Los Angeles, in Westwood (down the street from UCLA). The facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Taiwan-Academy-in-Los-Angeles/530928883672049) has listed a film series and lectures. Has anyone had experience with events held by Taiwan Academies? 1 Quote
Eszter Posted October 15, 2014 at 06:42 PM Report Posted October 15, 2014 at 06:42 PM Wow, I haven't heard of it before but looks nice! I'm glad to see something like this! On their website you can find info about scholarships awarded by the Ministry of Education, I would highly recommend to try if you're eligible. I went to Taiwan with those scholarships twice and ended up staying for seven years. I would encourage every Chinese learner to try this experience so different from mainland China. Quote
