Duomi Posted October 19, 2014 at 04:15 AM Report Posted October 19, 2014 at 04:15 AM New to these forums and I wish to start off by saying - Thank you for this cooperative knowledge bank! What you are doing is an insult to me." 。。 多米 Quote

Duomi Posted October 19, 2014 at 06:48 PM Author Report Posted October 19, 2014 at 06:48 PM Kenny同志,The whole "你这样做是对我的侮辱" structure only makes sense by leaping over my English logic mindset, and even then I feel my grasp is weak at best. Why not simply say "你這麼做是侮辱我" ?? Quote
imron Posted October 19, 2014 at 11:30 PM Report Posted October 19, 2014 at 11:30 PM Doing that is an insult Doing that is an insult to me I find it insulting when you do that to me All of the above are correct English. Which one is the correct one to use when someone does something that insults you? All of them. Language is full of variety often there are multiple ways to express basically the same thing, and that applies to Chinese as well as English. Quote

Personally I like my own version better but I wouldn't say the sentence you quoted is wrong. Look at it this way: 你這樣做是 對我的 侮辱。 Doing that is an insult that is aimed at me. Re your name.
skylee Posted October 20, 2014 at 06:30 AM Report Posted October 20, 2014 at 06:30 AM 多米 is good. In Cantonese sometimes we describe rich people as 有米. Quote
