Hofmann Posted November 1, 2014 at 07:42 PM Report Share Posted November 1, 2014 at 07:42 PM Alpacas were only used as an image for the 草泥馬. 草泥馬 isn't an alpaca.
Kamille Posted November 2, 2014 at 06:20 AM Report Share Posted November 2, 2014 at 06:20 AM I heard the opposite. They're not llamas but alpacas. But is it really important? I mean most people don't even know the difference between llamas and alpacas.

Demonic_Duck Posted November 2, 2014 at 09:22 AM Report Share Posted November 2, 2014 at 09:22 AM In the popular imagination, “草泥马” is now the correct word for alpaca. Everyone knows what a 草泥马 is, not everyone knows what a 羊驼 is. I've even seen mothers explaining to children “that's a 草泥马” (pointing to an alpaca).
Kamille Posted November 2, 2014 at 04:42 PM Report Share Posted November 2, 2014 at 04:42 PM I don't know the difference between llamas and alpacas. Wikipedia does though.
陳德聰 Posted November 2, 2014 at 08:51 PM Report Share Posted November 2, 2014 at 08:51 PM I think usually llamas are almost double the size of alpacas, and llamas have big hornshaped ears while alpacas have lil cat ears.
fanglu Posted November 2, 2014 at 09:59 PM Report Share Posted November 2, 2014 at 09:59 PM Alpacas have fine wool (suitable for making expensive clothes), while llamas have course wool (inferior to sheeps' wool).
