I registered to baidu with qq email id. But when i want to download a file, baidu say this: "To detect the presence of a security risk to your account, we recommend that the phone number associated with increased security" 

Asks my phone number, whan i give it: say: Phone number format is incorrect.

What is the correct phone number format?

It's best to skip the phone number step, if you can.

Fot non-Chinese numbers, though, there may be a pull-down menu of country codes.

As I mentioned here, the Chinese page did have a button to give a phone number "later", but that seems to have disappeared in the past couple of days.

I'd suggest waiting a bit and see if the option to skip phone registration returns.

In any event, do not waste money buying a Chinese SIM card; they normally do not work outside China.

But as stated above, in the past couple of days Baidu seems to have changed and seems to require a mobile number, too.
