I want to give a thank you card to someone,

How do I say this: Thank You for letting me see the world

or whatever way, formal or unformal, which would be better. this is to someone older than me. a teacher.

Something like “谢谢您帮我见识世界” (simplified) “謝謝您幫我見識世界” (traditional).

I'd say this is fairly neutral, not overly formal or informal, though the “您” adds a bit of a respectful tone, as you might use when talking to an older teacher.

Other forum members might be able to improve on this.

I'm not, hence why I think others might be able to improve on it. Although I'm certain it's at least grammatically correct.

Because when I read that translation, i take it as widen one's knowledge. That sound like she is teaching me. I want a direct english translation that have the same meaning as a English person would take it as

There are two ways of reading your text. Literally ‘Thanks for letting me see the world.'  or figuratively. Figuratively, it means 'thanks for increasing my understanding of things', 'Thanks for letting me see things more clearly.'

Literally: 谢谢您让我看这个世界。

Figuratively: 谢谢您帮助我更好地理解这些东西。

(什么东西你没说过。)

the first one sounds good to me more of what I am looking for. or would it be better to say... ganxie ni rang wo da kai shi jie

The only things Chinese about me are my socks, but I would say 感谢您 would be fine. Better would be some kind of 成语, maybe someone here knows a suitable one. You could use 恩师 instead of 您 if you really want to kow-tow!
