ralphmat123 Posted November 20, 2014 at 07:45 AM Report Posted November 20, 2014 at 07:45 AM How would you say I didn't do anything in chinese? As in if someone asked you what you did over the weekend. I thought 我没有多什么做 That's probably completely wrong though. Thanks Quote
Demonic_Duck Posted November 20, 2014 at 08:19 AM Report Posted November 20, 2014 at 08:19 AM I thought 我没有多什么做 I'm confused as to where you're getting “多” from. The simplest translation is probably “我什么都没做” or “我什么都没干” (gàn). The latter is a little more colloquial. “什么都[没/不]” is equivalent to “nothing”, but goes in front of the verb instead of after it. You could further break it down as “什么” something “都” all “没/不” not. Chinglish translation: “I did not do all of the somethings”. If you're looking for something a bit more colourful, you could also try: “我整个周末都宅在家里” or “我整个周末足不出户”. “宅”: to stay shut up indoors. “足不出户”: to not set one foot outside the door (this is a 成语). Quote
ralphmat123 Posted November 20, 2014 at 10:40 AM Author Report Posted November 20, 2014 at 10:40 AM Thanks for your explanation. I meant to write 都 not 多 but the pinyin is similar! So to say"I did something" would be 我什么都做” ? Quote
roddy Posted November 20, 2014 at 10:42 AM Report Posted November 20, 2014 at 10:42 AM That would be 'I did everything'. Quote

wumaoge Posted November 21, 2014 at 03:04 AM Report Posted November 21, 2014 at 03:04 AM To say "I did something" you can use 我做事了. If you need to say you did a lot of things this weekend, 这个周末我做了很多事情. As an alternative, you can also say you were busy : 刚才我很忙. Quote
Demonic_Duck Posted November 21, 2014 at 03:43 AM Report Posted November 21, 2014 at 03:43 AM “刚才” = just now, you'd only use “刚才我很忙” if you were explaining why you were unavailable a moment before. If you were talking about what you did at the weekend/the last few days, you'd use “这周末”/“这几天”. 2 Quote
