Kongzi Posted May 18, 2005 at 02:43 PM Report Posted May 18, 2005 at 02:43 PM Hello, After a quick look through the archives I didn't see any similar threads, so if this has already been dealt with, my apologies. Having managed to install after a bit of trouble the various Chinese fonts, IME's etc, I'm now wondering if theres a program that can convert characters (say, both simplified & traditional) to pinyin, or if this is possible within the Microsoft IME itself? Any help would be appreciated. Quote
Kongzi Posted May 18, 2005 at 02:50 PM Author Report Posted May 18, 2005 at 02:50 PM Ok, so I've just spotted the MS word thread below ( ), and omitted to add that I'm using Windows XP, and prefer Open Office to Word. I had to reinstall Works to get the IME's going; if I remove Word, will this compromise my setup? Quote
skylee Posted May 19, 2005 at 03:43 AM Report Posted May 19, 2005 at 03:43 AM Take a look at this -> http://140.111.34.69:8080/nationallibrary/index.jsp?open And try this -> http://140.111.34.69:8080/nationallibrary/WebJSP/Token2Pinyin.html Since it is a Taiwan system, it supports traditional characters and gives the results in Tongyong Pinyin. To get Hanyu Pinyin, press the button on the result page. Another tool for traditional characters -> http://www.kanhan.com/tdc/tools2.html For simplified characters -> http://www.chinese-tools.com/tools/annotation.html A relevant thread on this subject -> annotation/translation/pinyin conversion -- new Adso release Quote
