I can't understand what she said in the beginning. Please also view the video. She's a mandarin speaker but he's not. Translation would be great, thanks! Quote
Kamille Posted November 22, 2014 at 12:52 PM Report Posted November 22, 2014 at 12:52 PM She's saying hello and then introduces herself and the man with her but none of it is Mandarin. The entire video is in Hokkien and about Hokkien (only some example sentences are in mandarin for translation and detail). You seem quite sure that she's a mandarin speaker and him not but it seems to me that they are both from Xiamen which could make both of them equally hokkien-speakers and mandarin-speakers. Bilinguals I mean. And yes the man seems older so there is a possibility that his Hokkien is better then his Mandarin, as well as there is a possibility that the woman, as she is younger, would speak a better Mandarin then Hokkien. I'm not well informed about the conservation status of Hokkien in the Fujian province. Quote
