Someone told me this hanzi character is pronounced Way or "Hwe" and means "let's go!" or vigor. Can someone help me with this?

Thanks!

I don't believe this is a Hanzi.

I am not sure what it is.

I not sure it is a character in any language. I think it has been made up.

However I could be wrong and it could be so far from what it is supposed to be that I don't recognise it.

It is a hat from the Hong Kong Excelsior hotel. I took it one day it was raining. I don't want to wear a hat that says "Beware of Stupid Tourist"

Maye it is the hotel logo. It just doesn't look like Chinese character to me. i am no expert though so I could be wrong.

Did you mean can't

recognise the word. Don't worry.

or did you mean to the people to whom it matters can read it so there is no need to worry.

It's not all that stylized, just a bit cursive. Most non-native speakers don't really have much exposure to character forms other than those used in print (楷體、宋體、黑體), hence the difficulty in recognizing it.

@Shelley: it's just the 繁体 version of “会” (aside from the stylised font).

Not sure what nuances it has in Cantonese, but in Mandarin it can mean “to be able to” for certain skills (as well as the meaning of gathering, which I think is the more fundamental/original meaning). I'm not aware of any circumstances where it can mean “let's go” or “vigour”, though.
