Anyone familiar with this expression?

 

'你耳朵生翅膀了'

 

我的手移到筷子中部。
“不行,这样也不对,你耳朵生翅膀了,总听不见我的话?不能叉开筷子,叉开了,你守不住钱,会一辈子穷。象这样,拿稳,大拇指和二指压在一块。看你。教都教不转,得了,你今天先吃饭,明天给妈改过来。”

Haha it's pretty much exactly what it looks like, I don't think it's a set expression or idiom but I may be wrong. It is certainly comical to me though. I would not have understood without the following part.

Because 转 can mean 'change directions' I'm reading 教都教不转 as something like "can't teach an old dog new tricks" (teach not change [your] direction)

 

But then I've suddenly remembered: 狗改不了。。。。。

 

。。。它用筷子吃不好shi(事)
