Filling Out X1 Visa Application Form - Intended number of entries?

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of filling out a visa application form as I'm going to go study Mandarin for a year.

I was reading around that X1 visa applicants are initially given a 1 or 3 month single entry visa and then after registering etc etc, this is converted into a residence permit which allows multiple entries.

My question is, what should I choose for intended number of entries on the form if this is the case.

These are the options:

  • One entry valid for 3 months from the date of issue
  • Two entries valid for 3 to 6 months from the date of issue
  • Multiple entries valid for 6 months from the date of issue
  • Multiple entries valid for 1 year from the date of issue
  •  Other (Please specify)

If I tick the first box I surely save money on paying less for my visa if this is how they calculate the fee (I'm doing it by post), but I'd essentially be lying as I've already ticked that I'm going to be studying for more than 180 days, along with my answer to Longest intended stay in China among all entries

The difference between the two is an extra £150 for the 1 year multiple entry one, so I'd rather save that if I can.

What has everyone else put for this question when getting an X1 visa?

Thanks

The first one.

You would not be lying, because an X1 Visa is only valid for 30 days (so less than 3 months).

Even if you tick the fourth option, I don't think they are going to charge you £150 because they are going to issue a single-entry Visa anyway.

Thanks for getting back to me. I did the sensible thing and called them before sending it off. Received the visa back yesterday and paid the lower fee as you said.
