jbradfor Posted January 8, 2015 at 06:18 AM Report Posted January 8, 2015 at 06:18 AM I recently came across the Sogou app; it’s available in the Windows store, Android store, and iOS store. In the Windows store you need to search for “搜狐视频”, not sure about other stores. I played with it for a couple of nights, and thus far it seems really nice for casual viewing on a tablet, much easier than using a web browser. I have to admit I’m impressed, the interface is much better than I would expected from a free Chinese app. When you start it, the shows are organized by category (hot, TV shows, movies, etc). For learning Chinese, it does have the first two shows I tried, 家有女儿 and非诚勿扰 (the game show, not the movie). It did not have, unfortunately, 北京遇上西雅图, which I wanted to watch as apparently this show is partially responsible for our rising house prices. [searching did find it, but playing it brought up the web browser, and you had to pay to watch it.] You can tag movies for later viewing. There does not seem to be a way to setup an account to have your tagged movies sync across multiple devices, although I could have missed it due to my reading ability (or lack thereof). This would have been useful to, for example, search for shows on a laptop, but view on a tablet. I believe there is a way to download shows for offline viewing, but I didn’t try it. 2 Quote
