dingobingo Posted January 11, 2015 at 01:41 PM Report Posted January 11, 2015 at 01:41 PM Hey folks. My wife is going to be working for the Nottingham Uni in Ningbo. We've contacted a couple of English speaking estate agents to arrange viewings. They both have said they charge one month rent as the fee for their service. I know this is common in Spain for example, but not the UK. How about China? Par for the course? Or does it vary city to city or perhaps because I'm dealing with agents that speak English? My wife is actually Chinese so there's no need for us to use English speaking agents except for they have the best maintained websites and a good selection of ads (which we're fully prepared that they may well be fake / enticers). My sis in law in Shanghai negotiated her agent fee down to just 15% of one month's rent. Then again her rent is three times more than what we're looking at in Ningbo. Aside from that - any warning for arears to avoid in Ningbo? Cheers and beers. Quote
tooironic Posted January 12, 2015 at 07:15 AM Report Posted January 12, 2015 at 07:15 AM Agent fees for real estate agents is common practice in China. The only way to avoid it is to find a place through your own contacts, or take a look at ads posted on real estate websites that are placed by agents, e.g. at ganji.com you can filter according to 个人 (individuals) and 经纪人 (agents).
