Thanate Posted January 16, 2015 at 09:56 PM Report Posted January 16, 2015 at 09:56 PM Hi everyone. I'm a PhD student in UK university. My nationality is Thai and holding Thailand passport. I am starting my research in China in April 2014 at a Chinese University. Now I have got the invitation letter issued by that university which it said "We would like to invite him to arrive in April 2015 and to have completed his training by the end of December 2015". Previously, I prefer to apply for the student X1 visa, but it needs the JW201 or JW202 form which that university still have no idea about it. Now I'm concerning on applying the business F visa. Depending on my situation, What is Visa that fits my case? Thank you in Advance Quote
jbradfor Posted January 17, 2015 at 04:37 AM Report Posted January 17, 2015 at 04:37 AM Chinese visas aren't really my area, but is anyone else worried about a University that has no idea about a JW201 or JW202? It makes me a bit worried. 2 Quote
Nicoletta Posted January 23, 2015 at 08:57 PM Report Posted January 23, 2015 at 08:57 PM Hello Thanate, I think that a PhD student can enter China either with an X or F Visa. If you decide for the X Visa, you must ask for an X1 because you stay is longer than 180 days. In this case, you will also need a JW201 or JW202 form. JW201 is for students that hold a Chinese Government scholarship or are on a Government exchange program. JW202 is for self-supported students. In any case, a quick phone call to your local Chinese Visa Application Service Center should clarify any doubt. Quote
