Need Help with Chinese Letters on Clothing Label Please

Debbie W.

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have an older friend that used to have her clothes made in Hong Kong quite a few years back. Here is the label out of one of them. She was asking me to find out if they are still in business. The "Jinfeng" doesn't really help, so I was wondering if the company name might be in the Chinese lettering. I thought I would start with the label first and the Internet, and then if that doesn't work, calling the number on the label.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The characters are :

金风洋服

The second one is the simplified version (don't use full form on this PC)

It says Jin Feng Yang Fu

It means Jin Feng western style clothes.

I think Jin Feng is the name of the company, jin feng means autumn wind.

So it is something along the lines of Autumn Winds Western style Clothes.

Hope this helps.

But neither of us really answered the OP's question, whether they are still in business.  Did a quick web search for "金鳳洋服", got no promising hits.  I realize that not everything is on-line, but that's not a good sign....

Unfortunately, my posts have to be approved before they post and I did post before this one.

I was basically asking to see if I could find out if it was a company, etc., and then I was going to search on the Internet myself, so Shelley is right, I was going to search if anything conclusive came up.

I appreciate you doing a search for me jbradfor. That was really nice of you. I did try googling the phone number and didn't come up with anything. I don't have international calling on my phone, but I'm sure I can find someone that does and maybe try the number. However, if they answer and don't speak English, then that doesn't help me either. :P

How long is "quite a few years"? Any other info, even just an area of the city?

There is a company of the same name in Guangzhou, might have had a Hong Kong shop. But it's hardly a one in a million name, so could easily just be coincidence. I think without more clues we're stuck.

Thanks so much for everyone's detective work! :D I sooooooooo appreciate it.

Thanks for trying the number Skylee. I appreciate it.

Roddy, I would probably say at least 20 years ago or longer. My older friend traveled the world with her husband and had her clothes and shoes made in Hong Kong, Singapore, etc. (We found that the company that made her shoes are still in business and we just ordered some for her.) She said something about having her silk suits made at this company as she wanted me to ask them if they still used raw/heavy silk to make their suits.

Oh wow dwq! That is SO GREAT!! Thanks so much!

I've never called an international number before, so to call this number: 02083799438, how would I do it calling from the U.S.? Looking it up on the internet, it says to add 011 852 to the beginning and then the eight digit number, but that would make it too long.

Debbie, as dwq said, that place is in Guangzhou, ie not Hong Kong, not 852. Guangzhou is in Mainland China.

Country code of China - 86

Area code of Guangzhou - (0)20 (drop the first zero unless you are in China)

So you dial +86 20 83799438

PS - if you are in the US and using a fixed line instead of a mobile, then it is 011 86 20 83799438.

PS - do not forget 1) the time difference; and 2) they speak Chinese in China (some do speak English, though)

Thanks Skylee. That clears it up a lot. :-)

I will have to give it a try and see if they speak English. My friend will be very happy if this all works out. :-)

Thanks for the reminder about the time difference, I was going to look that up before I called. I see that you differentiated between fixed line and mobile. Is there a difference if I use mobile?
