nzcnzcn Posted January 27, 2015 at 08:48 PM Report Posted January 27, 2015 at 08:48 PM 大家好, I didn't know where to put this topic, hope I made a good decision to post it in there. I have one question: let's say you have an opportunity to study everywhere in China, what place would be most interesting for you? The most unusual? Let me make it clear: I've studied for a year in Harbin, it's a great city, but for me it's way to much Russian-style, now I want to choose something different, more "oriental" if you know what I mean, without white faces everywhere. I've been to Harbin, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Jinan and Xiamen. Harbin? Like I said, and little too cold, air quality isn't advantage as well. Cities like Beijing/Shanghai/Guangzhou are simply too big for me, and too obvious! Don't like atmosphere of those cities, especially Guangzhou. Xiamen is the city that I liked very much, but the dialect that people are using in there is just.. un-understandable, and since the best way to practice language is to speak with locals - I have to say "no" to Xiamen City. So what would you recommend? I thought about Lanzhou, but it seems that this place have some serious environmental issues (water, air, sic!), so maybe Qinghai and Xining (i absolutely love Huizu and Muslim cuisine)? Unfortunately I can't get any serious photos of this city, and serious photos of Mingzu Daxue. I'm a little afraid of this region, because it might as well be beautiful as terrible and boring place, end of the world. Have anybody ever been there? Studied there? If not Qinghai than maybe Guizhou or Yunnan? What's your opinion? Thanks for help. Quote
Simon_CH Posted January 28, 2015 at 02:22 PM Report Posted January 28, 2015 at 02:22 PM Have you considered small coastal towns in Taiwan? That would be my first choice if I had a few months to learn full-time Chinese. Quote
Guest realmayo Posted January 28, 2015 at 03:09 PM Report Posted January 28, 2015 at 03:09 PM Simon_CH why? What are they like? Quote
Simon_CH Posted January 28, 2015 at 03:21 PM Report Posted January 28, 2015 at 03:21 PM Beach, nature, climate, few foreigners apart from tourists, very friendly locals, few distractions, great food... and so on. Not the most exciting places to be, but I suppose that's a good thing if you want to learn Chinese? Quote
nzcnzcn Posted January 28, 2015 at 03:33 PM Author Report Posted January 28, 2015 at 03:33 PM But the point is I want to attend on such course at some university. And I prefer to study simplified chinese since I already have some basis. Quote
