New Members Roxannas Posted January 28, 2015 at 12:37 AM New Members Report Share Posted January 28, 2015 at 12:37 AM Hello, everyone! I am in need of a quick translation from the forums at baidu.com. ~ Story ~ So I downloaded a compressed file from a forum post. I want to extract the compressed file, but I need a password for it. I've tried asking the owner for the password, but they told me to look at the community rules for instructions on how to find the decompression password. I've managed to find the community rules with the use of Google Translate, and also which rule is the most likely to contain the clue to the password. "所有资源解压密码皆为链接所在帖子的名称" So... here I am now! ~ The Help I Need ~ This is what I need an English translation for: "所有资源解压密码皆为链接所在帖子的名称" According to Google Translate and a few other online translators, either the title of the post or the link is the password. I want to confirm whether this is accurate or not. Thank you!
aone Posted January 28, 2015 at 02:33 AM Report Share Posted January 28, 2015 at 02:33 AM I suppose the password is - the title of the post
imron Posted January 28, 2015 at 02:55 AM Report Share Posted January 28, 2015 at 02:55 AM Surely it would only take a few seconds to try both options.
New Members Roxannas Posted January 28, 2015 at 03:05 AM Author New Members Report Share Posted January 28, 2015 at 03:05 AM @aone: Okay, thank you! @imron: I did try both, and also a lot of other combinations, prior to making this post. Unfortunately, none of them worked so I wanted to make sure that I didn't misunderstand what the password hint said. ^^

jbradfor Posted January 28, 2015 at 06:32 PM Report Share Posted January 28, 2015 at 06:32 PM "链接所在帖子的名称" -- I'm not sure how to parse that. Would it be "the link that is located in the name of the post"? So it's not necessarily the title of the post, but potentially just part of it? Also, isn't "解压" technically incorrect? What is wanted is the decryption password, not the uncompression password. [i know encrypted data are often compressed, but those are technically two different features.]
yvesc Posted January 28, 2015 at 07:15 PM Report Share Posted January 28, 2015 at 07:15 PM @jbradfor: Parsing. no, it's "the name of the post in which the link is located" 链接在帖子(内): the link is in the post 链接所在帖子: the post in which the link is.
Tiana Posted January 29, 2015 at 09:44 AM Report Share Posted January 29, 2015 at 09:44 AM Thank you yvesc! @jbradfor: I think "解压" means "decompress(ing)" (and 解压密码 = password for decompressing the file)
roddy Posted January 29, 2015 at 09:52 AM Report Share Posted January 29, 2015 at 09:52 AM If you don't speak Chinese, are you sure you know what the title of the post is?
edelweis Posted January 29, 2015 at 02:00 PM Report Share Posted January 29, 2015 at 02:00 PM If the title of the post is in Chinese, perhaps you have to write the pinyin. Or perhaps you have to use a Chinese version of Windows or of the decompression program.
New Members Roxannas Posted January 31, 2015 at 07:07 PM Author New Members Report Share Posted January 31, 2015 at 07:07 PM Thanks everyone for the translation! The password was indeed in the title of the post - it was just that my file extractor didn't accept Chinese characters as the password.
