please i need to know, i am in my final year now and i want to apply for the scholarship masters program but my school will not release my transcript until i graduate although i have exemption letter for my diploma i dont know if it will cover my transcript too. or can i type out my courses with grades will it be accepted

If I am applying directly to Universities for Masters programmes, can I apply to more than one?  How would it work?  I'm worried that I'll send my materials to more than one university and they both accept me and forward my documents to the CSC people in Beijing.  What would happen then if they receive two applications from the same person to different universities.

 

I'm worried the university I am applying to won't admit me so I want to cover my bases, but I don't want to ruin any chance I do have by applying to more than one university.

@ somethingfunny it is really something funny. I have asked the same question over and over again and got no clear answer in return. 

 

Here is what I think (and I did) Master Degree applicants are supposed to submit their application materials to all three choice of universities, assuming all three need to know who the applicant is, how competent he/she is for the chosen degree, etc.  (Right!?)  

 

Lets say you have been accepted by all three Universities, then the likelihood of you going to your first choice of U is high but not guaranteed according to CSC website, speaking of which, we are supposed to apply universities on our own. if just applied to one university, then what would happen if that one university rejects you, how would you or they proceed from there. 

 

*So to be safe, applied all of them, put the agency number of your first choice, that means they not only evaluate your application but also handle your CSC application because you choose them to do by putting their number while filling in the online form. While other two -second and third choice- can only consider your application to their universities but not to CSC scholarship, so probably CSC won't know if they accepted or rejected your application unless your first choice of university (whose agency number put down on application) rejects you and let your second choice have control on the CSC website, if the second choice also rejects you, then the third......

 

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I guess I still have two questions then:

 

1.  If my first choice university rejects my application to their university, will they still send me scholarship application to the CSC?  That would be very nice of them indeed.

 

2.  If I send an application to another university which has my first choice universities name written on it, won't they be a little insulted?

 

I submitted my documents for translation and notarization yesterday.  You have to go to a 公证处 if you're in China.  I went to a smaller office and they redirected me to the provincial one, which was very impressive and they seemed to know what they were doing.

@somethingfunny I have the same doubt as you, if I send my application to my second or thir choice with another university as first choice maybe they won't consider me. :/ or maybe it depends on the university.

I think they will (the second and the third choice) have to "consider" your application if the first choice university rejects your application, if not what is the use of putting them second and third in the list?

 

I think because of these potential "rejections" CSC application deadline way earlier than the universities actual deadline for self-supporting students. 

 

@somethingfunny, to answer your first question, I don't know exactly how would they do it but my guess is they may send digital copies of your application documents in case of rejection maybe even in acceptance. 

 

But here is the thing if you have already filled and printed the CSC online application form, you will see on the form that they want you to include "Admission notice from Universit[ies]" so it is plural you know what I mean.

I'm in the process of applying for a masters in BIT that's taught through English. Different websites are suggesting a minimum length, I'm currently sitting just above 500 words, do you think that will suffice?

@Somthingisfunny, what most guys did was to open different accounts on csc.edu.cn and sent to their various universities of choice, choosing one university each time. What CSC did was to send them to the school they deem fit and mostly the school which sent their documents to csc first.

Hi guys,

 

I applied for the CSC scholarship a couple of years ago and was unsuccessful - I'm applying again this year for the EU window.

 

It seems that the requirements have changed slightly in the preceding years and I would be very grateful if anyone can clarify on the following:

 

1. For Language Study only - is it a requirement or advisable to have the admission letter from the Chinese university before applying to CSC?  I noted a lot of discussion on 'Pre-Admission' notice - is this particular to post-graduate study or relevant for language study also?  Assuming it is not relevant to language study - is the best course of action to apply direct to the university as a regular student and include any acceptance notice or does the university need to be informed that I'm applying to CSC?

 

2. Is it possible to get 2 years of funding for language study via the EU window (has anyone achieved this previously?) and if so is it simply a case of putting down 2 years duration in your application (even if the language courses are listed online as 1 year courses)?

 

If anyone can advise on the above I would really appreciate it

I hope someone can help me with this question about studying with the CSC Scholarship in a dual degree program. If I am accepted to a university in China and I'm accepted to CSC, can I study a dual degree which is 1 year in Beijing and 1 year in Korea? I'm not expecting the CSC to pay for me during my time in Korea, but I wonder what happens to the CSC scholarship if I join a dual degree program out of country? I'm hoping that I will be covered just for the time in China then it will stop.

 

Any idea?

I would not put 2 years if you're choosing 1 year language program schools.. if the school doesn't have 2 year program, they won't be able to do it.

 

That said, I'm applying for CSC for 2 year language scholarship and there are only a handful of schools that have programs that can be 2 years (and scholarship eligible)

Hey guys, I'm applying for CSC scholarship too! Im just interested in health document.. Its said we should send copy, and then when we get to China to show original. So, i should copy my picture too with stamp on it??

This is a fairly specific question so hopefully someone will be able to give me a quick response.  Thanks in advance.

 

On the CSC application form checklist next to the item for graduation certificate and transcript it says:

 

“须公证，一是两份”

 

I checked my dictionary for the last part and while it doesn't have “一是两份” it does tell me that  “一式二份” means "in duplicate".  The problem is, I'm not even sure what "in duplicate" means.  Now, from the notary office, I have a photocopy of my certificate, a translation, and the certificate saying the photocopy is of the original - all put together in a nice little booklet.  Does this qualify as "in duplicate" or do I need to send two of these for both my graduation certificate and transcript?  After all, the notary office did supply me with two copies of each...

@ somethingfunny Two of these from the notary office for both your graduation certificate and transcript. I understand that all the application documents must be sent in duplicate.

 

But I am not clear whether to pack the two copies of each item of the application documents one after another or to make two sets of the application documents and than staple the sets.

Someone on this post earlier mentioned that you don't need an admission letter for the CSC scholarship if you're applying for the Language study program. It is nice to have the admission letter if you have it because it increases your chances of getting the scholarship for that particular school, but not required. The Pre-Admission notice is only for those going for post-graduate study. Also, for the language study, you have to apply through the Chinese Embassy in your country. On your application,  make sure you put the agency number of your embassy. You can find the agency number normally on the website. If not, there is a different form post from the previous years about the CSC scholarship where someone had a list of the most common agency numbers. 

 

As for applying directly through the school, it is good only if you are going for graduate study.

a note to everyone! when youfind the major you want on the csc scholarship website, also look on that universities' webpage to see if it has the major. Or try to skype call the university and confirm! just recently, the school I applied for (Nanjing university) changed the major on my scholarship form from "chinese language & culture" to "international relations". although the CSC website shows they have "chinese language & culture", it has not been updated because Nanjing university said this major no longer exists (for master's degree). its ok though, as long as i can still go to China and study i will be happy.

 

in conclusion, depend on more than just the CSC scholarship website, and you will be OK.
