sofi1 Posted July 29, 2015 at 04:52 PM Report Posted July 29, 2015 at 04:52 PM @dgenx Oh you are peruvian too great! I'm not so sure if it's holiday for them too, anyway i'll give them a call. I was searching and i guess the direct contact is Mss. Zhu Xiaoyan from the embassy... because Pronabec doesn't give me any respond.
tobz Posted July 29, 2015 at 05:24 PM Report Posted July 29, 2015 at 05:24 PM @Tumi Congratulations…. The waiting is starting to get to me though….. 1
Klang Posted July 29, 2015 at 06:14 PM Report Posted July 29, 2015 at 06:14 PM I am from South Africa and I have been told that our results will be released on Friday. I'm so tired of being nervous/scared, and quite frankly I just want to find out my fate so that I can move on with life. I was recommended by my embassy to the universities of my choice, however I later heard that recommendation is not a guarantee for placement. Many people have been turned down despite being recommended. Good luck to any other South Africans (as well as Africans) still awaiting their response. May Friday bring nothing but good fortune!
tobz Posted July 29, 2015 at 07:10 PM Report Posted July 29, 2015 at 07:10 PM @ Klang You dont know how good it is to find someone in the same situation I'm in. The embassy told me the same thing about the university placement. Good Luck comrade. Hope to see you on the South African airways flight to China.

stanislasdecourbel Posted July 30, 2015 at 11:09 AM Report Posted July 30, 2015 at 11:09 AM hi guys, I received an email from CSC telling me that I got the scholarship. But the embassy didn't yet. Do I have to reply to the email asking my host university? for me to start preparing my trip? Or just to wait the embassy to comfirm? Congrats to those already enjoying their scholarships confirmation!!! @Tumi, tobz, Klang and yussuf anything new....???
DongLian Posted July 30, 2015 at 12:59 PM Report Posted July 30, 2015 at 12:59 PM @lanicaa I don't think bilateral does air ticket.. where did you see that? I would hope you're right but I've not seen that. I've only seen air ticket on MOFCOM scholarship. @stanislasdecourbel You probably got it, but I would want to hear from the Embassy themselves. If you applied through the Embassy, then they're probably the most reliable source. BUT I was told my my host university that "it's possible to get nominated by embassy, get approved by CSC but when applications go back to the embassy they find they have too many since each country has a quota.. so it's possible to get that far, and then be denied scholarship" so based on that, I would want to hear from the embassy now that you have it, not CSC. But if you have to reply to the email from your university or not.. I'm not sure how we can know.. if the Univ emailed you asking for something then perhaps you should reply.. but if they didn't.. what would you be emailing them for? If you have to, go for it, if you don't.. don't?? lol
lanicaa11 Posted July 30, 2015 at 01:19 PM Report Posted July 30, 2015 at 01:19 PM @dingLian It depends on each country. Mine offers air ticket :/ 1
sofi1 Posted July 30, 2015 at 04:41 PM Report Posted July 30, 2015 at 04:41 PM @lanicaa11 My country provides air tickets, too
Kursat Posted July 30, 2015 at 07:52 PM Report Posted July 30, 2015 at 07:52 PM Hey is there anyone knows what happens if we cancel the scholarship or have to return to our country? Do we have to pay some kind of penalty?

KJasin87 Posted July 30, 2015 at 09:01 PM Report Posted July 30, 2015 at 09:01 PM My fate just got sealed, I called the Chinese: American Embassy, finally got a hold of someone and they told me if I didn't get an email, I didn't get a scholarship. They didn't bother looking up my status but I understand with the amount of applicants they had received. Best of luck to the remaining students who are awaiting results and congrats to everyone that had received their great news already!

Tumi Posted July 31, 2015 at 03:38 AM Report Posted July 31, 2015 at 03:38 AM @stanislasdecourbel I also received the same email and the package. Confirm with the embassy ASAP because you need to start preparing e.g. Handing in your 30day notice letter (if you are working).
dgenx Posted July 31, 2015 at 05:45 AM Report Posted July 31, 2015 at 05:45 AM and still my 'checking' theory holds up! I hope...
lambilyforever Posted July 31, 2015 at 06:38 AM Report Posted July 31, 2015 at 06:38 AM @pantsu and everyone else, Yes, it was also not clearly stated in my application package (which consists of: JW201, admission notice from the university, and the school map) what scholarship I got. Although in the visa application form (jw 201), there's a tiny box there for full scholarship with a check mark on it. I guess that means I got the whole deal-- stipend, lodging, and everything else. But in the admission notice from the university, it doesn't say anything about a scholarship. it just mentioned that I got in.
Guest Posted July 31, 2015 at 07:50 AM Report Posted July 31, 2015 at 07:50 AM Finally I recieved an email from the teacher that assisted me during all the process. She told me I can come to the embassy to collect my admission letter! I'm so happy! But I still have no idea which uni accepted me, the probability to have been accepted by my top three is low as I didn't get a preadmission letter.
gretoverno Posted July 31, 2015 at 09:08 AM Report Posted July 31, 2015 at 09:08 AM @dgenx are you saying that everyone who's status says "checking" got the scholarship? Guess I'm the exception to that rule...
