大家好！I know every 中文名字有两个汉子 and the name often has a symbolic meaning or something like that. What does the name 威廷 mean? I know 威 means powerful of strong but what does 廷 mean? 谢谢你！

And any way its just one slight character difference. 汉子 is the first thing that came up on my keyboard and by accident I picked it. I know they're completely different words.

Anyway, not all Chinese given names are two characters. Some are only one. As my dear friend, 李美 can confirm as could my ex-wife, her sister and brother who all have one character given names..

You won't get very far with Mandarin if you refuse to accept people correcting you (even if the correction is given as a hint, which is a pretty damn well-established pedagogical technique).
