Lilly Kim Posted February 14, 2015 at 04:24 AM Report Share Posted February 14, 2015 at 04:24 AM ok, please help, this is important to me " 女朋友喔?" " 嗯啊。律米你最近好嗎?好久不見了!" So is he agreeing, saying no, or changing the topic?? Every translator is giving me a different answer >.<
anonymoose Posted February 14, 2015 at 05:58 AM Report Share Posted February 14, 2015 at 05:58 AM Agreeing to what? All it says is: Girlfriend? Yes. Lümi, have you been well recently? Long time no see!
Lilly Kim Posted February 14, 2015 at 06:47 AM Author Report Share Posted February 14, 2015 at 06:47 AM Thanks~ Because it was on a photo of me and a guy. We are not official..so I was wondering how he'd respond
anonymoose Posted February 14, 2015 at 09:03 AM Report Share Posted February 14, 2015 at 09:03 AM OK, so this was a photo on Facebook or something, and someone asked "(Is that your) girlfriend?". His response is "Yes".
imron Posted February 14, 2015 at 09:15 AM Report Share Posted February 14, 2015 at 09:15 AM His response is "Yes". Not so much "Yes" as "nnnh" - a grunt that people would take to be affirmative, and he then changes the subject without dwelling on it. Anyway, rather than getting all hung up on the nuances of what it means, just ask him out and make it official. He's clearly not opposed to people believing you are a couple. Then I would start learning Chinese.
anonymoose Posted February 14, 2015 at 09:30 AM Report Share Posted February 14, 2015 at 09:30 AM I don't see how you can be sure about that. There is plenty of latitude for interpretation here. This could be anything from a reticent "yes" to an emphatic "yes". The fact that he changes the subject could just mean he's shy to talk about it. Lilly Kim Posted February 15, 2015 at 03:01 AM Author Report Share Posted February 15, 2015 at 03:01 AM Well I don't think it was a yes (considering it is Valentine's Day today and he didn't ask to hang out)... So I don't understand why he wouldn't just say no. Seems clear to me. But thank you for the answers!
imron Posted February 15, 2015 at 03:25 AM Report Share Posted February 15, 2015 at 03:25 AM So I don't understand why he wouldn't just say no. Because He's clearly not opposed to people believing you are a couple. But he probably doesn't know how to move things forward and/or is too shy, so if you'd prefer to get over the angst of "does he/doesn't he" the easiest thing to do would be to make the first move.
Lilly Kim Posted February 15, 2015 at 04:55 AM Author Report Share Posted February 15, 2015 at 04:55 AM I see, he's a recent international student but also 24 so I can't believe he is this shy. Well I am happy he didn't say no xD
