Are these 2 sentences correct?

I suppose that only one of these sentences is correct, could you help me correct them?

 

1. 不小心掉地上饺子了。

2. 不小心把饺子掉地了。

I would say that 不小心掉地上饺子了 is correct and 不小心把饺子掉地了 not?

The first one is wrong.  The correct one should be (我)不小心把饺子掉地上了。

You don't need a 在 after the 掉? The sentence seems a bit empty without it.

Thank you for your answer, now I am not yet completely clear about, wheather the second sentence in my first post is also completely wrong or at least acceptable.

     Yes, it's better to add “在” after “掉” if you want to use the written language.

     PS: Could you tell me how to quote your post? I didn't find any button. Should I use the code in order to quote one's post?

     The first one is completely wrong, the second one is grammatically wrong, but it's a better one compared with the first one. Of course, I think you need to learn the correct expression, so "at least acceptable" is not enough in learning a language, is it?

cepheid, In the text box toolbar area, there's a little button near the center of the bottom row that looks like a "chat bubble."

That should bring up the quotation interface and you should be able to paste quotes inside of it.

 

Also, thanks for the confirmation. I'm guessing that when spoken, the 在 can be dropped completely?

I only get exposure to spoken Chinese when I go to class, which is only four hours a week, so I'm a bit inexperienced when it comes to the differences between spoken and written Chinese.

I found the button, Vildhjerp, thank you very much. In some other forums, I often find the button in the original post and I just click it and quote the post automatically. I guess I have to get used to the functions in the forum.

In spoken Chinese,  you can omit "在“. Of course, you will never be wrong if you use ”掉在“.

The first is absolutely wrong. Although native speakers can make sense of it.

The second can be accepted in spoken Chinese. But the complete sentence should be  我不小心把饺子掉在地上了。
