Shelley Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:15 PM Report Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:15 PM I am intrigued, what language are you aiming to translate this movie to? Quote
CJesus Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:24 PM Author Report Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:24 PM Its for Portuguese Ive finished by now just need to review and synchronize. And had a nice help to translate some parts to make it more close to reality. Normaly all asian movies when you try to work with subtitles already made by others are in english and brazilian and many lines are invented with no sense so i was like to make a good work or close one i have to find something to help me translate and found out this nice community. 1 Quote
889 Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:26 PM Report Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:26 PM I only see the three characters 寶芝林 Bao Zhi Lin. As before, I assume there's more that's not showing for some reason. http://www.people.com.cn/mediafile/pic/20140707/38/12091136064133326370.jpg Quote
CJesus Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:29 PM Author Report Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:29 PM No its only 3 characters, its like they are inaugurate that "name" after defeating the old harbor, so they are celebrating it, if that helps. Does it have something to do with medicine? Because his father was teacher of medicine? Quote
889 Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:37 PM Report Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:37 PM That context does not help. 寶芝林 Bao Zhi Lin, known as Po-Chi-Lam in Cantonese, is the name of the Chinese traditional medicine clinic founded in the late Qing dynasty in Foshan by 黃飛鴻 Huang Fei Hong, more commonly known as Wong Fei-Hung, a famed martial artist very frequently portrayed in the Hong Kong cinema. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wong_Fei-hung The name is used by businesses to this day, so that was probably the shop sign over a Chinese medicine store. 1 Quote
Shelley Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:48 PM Report Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:48 PM I am glad it is for Portuguese and not English. It is a good thing to help people enjoy these movies. Quote
CJesus Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:53 PM Author Report Posted February 28, 2015 at 12:53 PM That made sense thats the name of his father in the movie, Qing dynasty its also in the movie, so its based in true facts. So how should i put that sign translated? Medicine Store? Quote
889 Posted February 28, 2015 at 01:00 PM Report Posted February 28, 2015 at 01:00 PM Are you using Cantonese names? If so, I'd probably call it Po Chi Lam Medicine Hall. 1 Quote

CJesus Posted February 28, 2015 at 06:44 PM Author Report Posted February 28, 2015 at 06:44 PM Is it possible this one? Quote
889 Posted February 28, 2015 at 10:41 PM Report Posted February 28, 2015 at 10:41 PM Only six characters are showing; it looks like a fragment of something larger. Quote
CJesus Posted February 28, 2015 at 10:45 PM Author Report Posted February 28, 2015 at 10:45 PM Thats weird i see 12, i though by adding the image would solve the problem by not seeing all the characters Guess for some reason some of you continue to have that problem. Any of this 2 links are ok for you now? http://s28.postimg.org/cpyc0n1dp/26_35.jpg http://postimg.org/image/fwsvk9ltl/ Movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMCJbD8ELOg At 25:28s if someone can write here the characters for him apreciate. Im going to take a rest now so probably will check the forum tomorrow thanks a lot guys, have a nice day! Quote
BlackBird Posted February 28, 2015 at 11:58 PM Report Posted February 28, 2015 at 11:58 PM I also cannot see the whole sentence in the pictures. From the video: "世上恶人又何止李爷一人?" 1 Quote
889 Posted March 1, 2015 at 10:37 AM Report Posted March 1, 2015 at 10:37 AM 世上恶人又何止李爷一人? It seems to be a rhetorical question: "All the villains of the world, can they possibly match Grandfather Li alone?" That's a rough translation that can be changed to fit the context of the picture. 1 Quote
CJesus Posted March 1, 2015 at 11:43 AM Author Report Posted March 1, 2015 at 11:43 AM It helped my friend, i could made it fit in the context .To finalize would be possible to get me the lyrics of the end music here are the OST with lyrics in chinese. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94Fw4pbg15M Quote
889 Posted March 1, 2015 at 12:13 PM Report Posted March 1, 2015 at 12:13 PM You're joking, no? Take a look at Freejoy93's post in the comments section at the link below (click "read more"). He's done a rough translation of the lyrics into English. Whether it's a good translation or not I do not know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83I_5lq5MwI 1 Quote
CJesus Posted March 1, 2015 at 12:15 PM Author Report Posted March 1, 2015 at 12:15 PM Didnt see them, thanks. Quote
dwq Posted March 8, 2015 at 03:09 AM Report Posted March 8, 2015 at 03:09 AM 世上恶人又何止李爷一人? It seems to be a rhetorical question: "All the villains of the world, can they possibly match Grandfather Li alone?" It is a rhetorical question meaning "Do you think Grandfather Li is the only villain in the world?" 何止...一人 means if you start counting people, would you stop at the count of "one person" (you wouldn't, because there are much more than one) 1 Quote
