Free Chinese Language Summer Camp in Beijing

Recommended Posts

My office have been informed about this free Summer Camp in Beijing so I thought I would post it up here if anyone is interested. Looks like it might be first come first serve (though details are still a little sketchy).

As we understand it this is a Hanban initiative and will be hosted by the Beijing International Chinese College. The course will take place July 6th to July 26th. Language training, cultural courses, accommodation, airport pick-up and meals are supplied. You need to get there and pay for your insurance/ visa cost. Looks like there will be a lot of activities also.

The catch – you need to be in education and must be 18 – 26 years old.

If it is really what it says then it looks legit.

I remember about ten years back there was a scam in Korea about free camp where you can learn Korean. It was a bait and switch. Once the foreigners arrived they were expected to teach Korean kids English. It was pretty much modern slavery.

BICC have been posting here about there summer camp for a few years.  The first time around it was met with some skepticism, but they've been going for a few years and I don't recall seeing any complaints on the forums about them so I would lean towards legit rather than bait and switch.
